It could be kidney stones but sounds more like gall bladder. Seems to be a common problem after gastric bypass. It can hurt all through your back and up into your shoulders. I had an infection in mine years ago and I literally thought I was having a heart attack. It hurt on the right side under my rib cage and all through my back and shoulders, eventually I started throwing up after I ate. My husband has gall stone but has never had any pain with his. He is still having his removed at the begining of the year just so he doesn't have an attack. Hope you find out soon what it is and get to feeling better soon. Hugs! Mary

Hi Becky.  We were talking about how much we missed you at LCBB last night.  I am on the gallbladder bandwagon.  There are different ways you feel it.  Mine was like indigestion and a bad stomach ache in my upper belly.  My daughter's was a sharp pain under her rib cage going all the way to her back.    The Trident ER docs kept diagnosing bladder/kidney issues until she went to a gastro guy who found the problem.  Dr. B fixed her right up (and she was only 26 at the time). Good luck - glad you are going to see the doctor Monday!  We love and miss you....

Hi Becky, It sounds like the gallbladder to me. I just went thru this and had my GB out on Halloween. I had pain for 2 1/2 weeks before I had the surgery. I had pain - sometimes sharp must mostly VERY uncomfortable and constant right behind my rib cage and also in my back. They did an US and found it was full of small stones. I also learned this is a very common problem with people who lose a lot of weight really fast. If you have surgery it was not bad at all. I was back to work in a week. Mine was laproscopic. i had the exact same pain except mine never subsided till i got my ass to the ER that nite. two hours later and 3 morphine shots i felt somewhat alive.
week later i had my gall bladder out. i thought i was dying when it hit. i have not had any children or other surgeries  and the only surgery i had was my lapband. and i was cussing it the whole time.....
