Denied by Tricare

I just checked on the computer, and it says I have been denied. I cant believe it, denied by tricare of all people. I meet their requirements and even got a second referral from my pcm since his first one did not say "treat" just evaluate. I did not see this coming and it has thrown me for a loop. I am so upset that I cant stop crying. I have done nothing but prepare for this surgery for months now, and all for nothing. I just cant understand it. What did I do wrong? I dont know if I am more mad or sad or just a horrible combonation of both. I am going home to NC for Thanksgiving and I was prepared to have the "I am having surgery" talk with some of my family, instead I will be miserable and they dont deserve that. I keep trying to tell myself that I still have an appeal, and that all things happen for a reason. I just want to scream!!!!!!              April

Don't give up, fight the insurance company. So many people get turned down more than once and still win out in the end. A friend of mine  fought for almost a year and was turned down several times, but she stuck with it and won and had the surgery a couple of months ago. She was ready to give up and was like you, to the point of screaming and crying over it, but I told her the same thing, don't give up. Insurance companies suck, bunch of paper pushers determining our futures and lives and its not right. If we pay their big premiums they shouldn't have restrictions and be able to deny claims to anyone. I have been turned down for things that are covered, only because some one screwed up and even though I had a time trying to get it straightened out , I stayed with it until i got my claims paid. Lots of phone and paper work, but they aren't going to cheat me out of what is rightfully mine. You go and have that talk with your family anyway, everything will work out., and most of all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. yes dnt give up see or call tricare & see if they got all the paper work they need & dr notes that happened to me also when I had my TT uck it said eval & not treat & eval so see if they got all the papers they need ,if you have co mobalaties & your BMI is high you should not have a prob good luck & keep us up to date

thank you for all of the support.  I have just spent the last couple of hours typing my appeals letter. I do plan on calling Tricare in the morning and seeing exactly what is the issue and start my appeals process

yah i agree with the others somthing must have got left out of the paperwork. it could be something so small and simple. pease dont get discouraged. they will approve you next time. i personally have never heard of tri care denying somone so it must just be a glitch somewhere.. keep your head in the game and continue to prepare...and have a happy thanksgiving
