What are your Thanksgiving plans?
What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Are you staying home or going to visit family/friends?
As we plan our Thanksgiving dinner, I find that everyone wants the traditional foods, and so do I. But I have found myself planning ahead just to be safe and smart about the things I eat.
So many southern foods have sugar and loads of butter. Oh this is gonna be different, my 1st BIG family gathering after WLS.
What ever your plans are........ENJOY !!!

I absolutely love Thanksgiving. Its my favorite Holiday because there is none of the gift stress. We go to my Dad's farm where he grew up. Its where we would go as children with our Grandparents. My dad has two brothers and a sister and there are ten of us first cousins. We still all come there for Thanksgiving with our children and spouses.
I know that my Grandparent's are so happy that we are are still at their homeplace celebrating our thanks and love for our family. The children will get to run wild in the fields, climb the old oak andMagnolia trees, feed the horses, and make forts in the wood just as we did years ago.
My Dad will smoke a turkey, there will be a fried and baked one and probably a ham. Dad also does some wild game on the grill. All of the males in the family are over 6'3", so we eat a LOT. The amount of food is obscene. Its my third Thanksgiving after WLS, so I hope to be able to keep away from the carbs.
I wish everyone else a safe, loving, and Happy Thanksgiving

This is the first Thanksgiving in 6 years that I will be actually spending the entire day with my family.Reasons being I'm still out on medical leave and my job at our eastside hospital does not require that I work holidays now, yeah!! We are going to my daughters in-laws in Elloree, SC. My god, low county cooking and on Thanksgiving= TROUBLE. They have their family get together at the church since there is so many of them, so you can imagine the amount of food that is there. You can smell the fat and sugar when you walk in the door. I will have to use control this year and make sure I don't over do it. Last year I was just starting on soft foods so it wasn't hard to be good, plus I had to work that day so I was tired by the time I got to my daughters to eat and with my pouch being new, I didn't have the desire to eat much at all. Now this year might be different, lol. But, I will be good cause I'm sure everyone there will be watching me eat, lol.
Hope everyone has a Happy Turkey Day!

hey board... long time no post!
for Thanksgiving my daddy is coming to SC from Cali... I AM SO EXCITED!!! I am going to sneak back home with him... Im plotting to hide in his luggage!
I am off all next week to spend time with him and register for classes...
But other than that... I am just going to be a DADDYS GIRL and enjoy the time with him!!!
I pray you ALL have a safe and blessed Holiday!!!!
I am 3 months out of surgery and probably will heed the advice on here and stick with protein stuff. Although I do love cranberries! I have not had a craving for anything sweet since surgery, so I am hoping that will still be easy to stay away from. The boys will be spending thanksgiving with their dads, the first one away from me so instead of cooking we are probably going to go out to eat, maybe Ryans...unless anyone knows of some place else that is reasonable for thanksgiving dinner? I know the hotels are doing something, but I dont want to spend a fortune when I cant eat very much!
Hope everyone has a safe and happy one!!!

We are meeting at my cousin's house upstate. We do this every year now. It's the most central location to everyone. 2 turkeys (one fried) and lots of country cooking! We have a number of diabetics in our family now so my sugar free desserts will be more welcome this year. I never mentioned the lack of sugar but somehow they always knew.
