Ok guys - I HAVE to know! When is it ok to start having a little fun again! It looks like a lot of you guys get together and go out for a few drinks (well, maybe more than a few!). Does the sugar in the alcohol and mixers not cause dumping syndrome? I know that the alcohol "gets to you" alot faster now so we have to take it slow.  All this talk lately about Capt Morgan and pineapple juice is making me THIRSTY! LOL!
Hugs,
Karen

LOL! I can't remember when I had that first drink, but I think it was back in January of this year. I had one Margarita and I got a little light headed, considering I use to be able to drink as much as 3 pitchers of the stuff, it hit me kind of fast but didn't last long. Then later that evening I had 6 double shots of tequila (jose'), I got a little tipsy, but considering the amount of liquor I was shocked I could even walk. Again, it didn't last long, maybe because our small intestines have been shortened and thats what absorbs all the good stuff, lol. I can't do beer very well, but never could, I can get more drunk off it than liquor for some reason. I have never really dumped on sugar, so the mixes don't bother me, but I really prefer straight liquor over mixes now.  Back in August I drank some of Sonny's milk shake and  had to sit down for about an hour, it was like my blood sugar went bonkers on me, not exactly like dumping. The strange thing is, I have tried ice cream before and had no problems with it, so I don't know what caused it that time. Good luck, and invite me along for the first drink!  Ole' Jose' Quervo Hugs! I don't know if I just drink too much to realize it but alcohol doesn't affect me any different than it use to.
And I LOVE Capt Morgan and pineapple juice!!

Well me....I don't drink alcohol..... but boy that Ana..Jen...and Tanya..... Serioiusly, I didn't have a drink for about a year...but I know lots of people do earlier.  It doesn't make me dump...and I am prone to dumping easily still..... Drink Up..Just remember it hits you hard and fast, so make sure you have a group of good friends to get you home!

You know I would have to be one to post the reply to this one....LOL

I think I had my first drink about 6 months after surgery and it was on from then on....LOL

I had margaritas and sometimes they make me dump - other times they don't.

Then I started to drink Vodka and cranberry but once I got a few very high bar tabs I decided to needed to move down to beer...

My choice now is Michelob Ultra since it only has 96 calories and very few carbs not to mention it is a lot cheaper than $6 a drink!!!

But, word to the wise, like mentioned early, make sure you aren't driving....and that you know the people around you.  LOL
