Why am I doing this?
Well I just got shot down today, went to see the plastic surgeon about some skin removal so that I can have my very large hernia repaired (went at the request of bypass surgeon and PCP) and was told to lose at least 50 more pounds. I mean that I'm 14 months out and have lost 340 pound already what more do they need from me?I have worked very hard my wife has taken care of me I almost died three different times, I'm just ready to get back to a somewhat normal life! sorry about the rant I'm just about at my end!!!
That does stink, big time. Someone else was complaining just yesterday that the insurance required them to go to the dietian but would not cover it. I don't know what this world is coming to. Don't give up thou, you have lost 340 lbs that is fabulous in itself. I have lost 105 and I know what you are talking about the skin. We are here to hear you rant and when you lose that 50 lbs more we will rave about, LOL. I hope you have a great weekend and keep your chin up.

What you have done is so amazing, don't let them get you down. I bet if you called Dr Byrnes office they might be able to help some with that. Even if they can't, the huge change that you have made in your life is still continueing, and 50 pounds is a piece of cake for you, you've done amazing. As Crystal said, its God's time.
Good Luck

I'm so sorry you didn't get the news you wanted to hear, but, don't give up. How far are you from goal?
My PS said that if you have 25 pounds or more to lose it would be best to not do the skin removal only because it will get lax again with more weight loss and you wouldn't be happy with the results. If you think you could live with some lose skin after the surgery then I reccomend seeing another PS for a second consult. I know how frustraiting it is especially since you have the hernia that needs to be fixed, and that alone can weigh a good bit. Try a second opinion before giving up.
Hugs!

as of today I have lost 340 pounds I started at 740 pounds so I still weigh 400 and I know that I still have a long road, but for me to continue along this road I really need something done when I stand up my belly button slides down to my knees and puts a great deal of strain on my lower back I'm sorry for spouting off like this but I was VERY disappointed yesterday!!
I am so sorry to hear about your obstacle you have run into but you need to keep in mind that is only a temporary obstacle! Unfortunately those that make some of the decisions have NO CLUE what it is like to be us. I know what you are dealing with with the skin. I just had gallbladder surgery Wednesday and I am having a LOT of trouble with pain from the extra skin. I have to walk around carrying it like it is a baby and I am only a little over half way to my goal (108 pounds lost) so I can imagine how much you have to deal with losing so much more than that. But how can we make those who have never walked in our shoes truely understand? I will keep you in my prayers.
