I know what you mean.  I have to have blood work done tomorrow and I know I am going to **** off the staff.  I can't help it.  I try hard but to no avail.  Call me and we will talk.

Becca,    I know that its really hard.  Just take baby steps.  You're not going to be able to do it all at first.  Just make sure you're sipping.  I did better with frozen slushy stuff at first.   Remember, just a few sips of protein is better than none. And try sugar free popcicles so that you don't get dehydrated.  They go down easy, feel good on your still hurting pouch, and count as water  Good Luck!!! Mary

i was told by the nutritionalist that no one will get in all their protein in the very beginning and you are no different. I dont think i had any at all for almost the whole first month. just drink water and add crystal lite or some other flavor and you will be ok...the main thing is to make sure you dont get dehydrated.

Sorry your having problems and hope you start doing better.  I had the same problem with protein.  I didn't get all mine in until I could eat, LOL.  I could not stomach that junk.  I told myself " I guess I will go bald b/c that crap is nasty".  Just keep drinking water or whatever works for you.  I found that propel was best for me.  Before surgery I was a diet pepsi aholic and now I am a propel aholic, LOL.  I drink about 5-6 a day.  The propel has a good taste and lots of different flavors.  I also found a protein at Whole foods called Protein100.  Its orange flavor and 1 oz has 15 grams of protein.  I was further out than you when I found it and mixed it with 2 ozs of OJ.  I couldn't handle it mixed with a lot of water but you can also sip down 1 oz quickly.  The lady at Whole foods let me taste it before I bought it and gave me the bottle she opened.  If you can't do the protein just drink the fluids, don't let yourself get dehydrated.  I hear that is no fun at all.

Hi Becca,

I know how  you feel.  I did not worry about protein grams for that first month or so, just made sure that I kept sipping.  Those sugar free popsickles are wonderful and great if you are really thirsty.  Just take one day at a time.  I did not do protein drinks because I hate the way they tasted or they had too much sugar, both alcohol, spenda, and regular sugar.  I did the Carnation Instant Breakfasts that were sugar free.  I would mix them with milk and add about 1/2 scoop of protein powder, enough to bump up the protein but not enough to make it too thick to get down.  If you want PM me and I will share some of those recipes with you.

Just remember to sip, sip, and then sip again.  You should be close to getting off the puree phase.  Try some chicken salad in a blender with some chicken broth.  Or go to Wendy's and get some chili and stick that in the blender and blend it REALLY well.  It will get better I promise!  PM if you want to talk. Julie

I  get those Atkins protein shakes from Sam's Club (cheaper than Walmart) I put them in the freezer and get them kinda slushy and it it with a spoon. I also get Coolwhip lite and cottage cheese and mix it with sugar free jello and a can of crushed pineapple.  Cottage cheese has a lot of protein. Looke on the recipe forum.. some of those recipes for protein balls are pretty good. I add the vanilla protein powder to Jello sugar free pudding. Thats pretty good too.
