feeling blue

Hey ya'll I haven't been to a thrusday meeting in a while but I am looking for some support and encouragement. I just found out ( after a 7 month wild goose chase)  my insurance will NOT cover bariatric surgery at MUSC, so now I am stuck havi ng to start all over and travel to whatever hospital the will cover it in. Most likley I will have to go 6 hours to Atlanta GA to find a hospital coverd. If anyone knows anything about a HCA hospital that does bariatric surgery that they recomed I would welcome  the advice.   Anne M

Hi Anne.  I am so sorry they won't cover MUSC.  They are a Bariatric Surgery "Center Of Excellence"...make sure your insurance knows that....might make a difference, I don't know.  I don't know anything about HCA hospitals...just wanted to say hi and offer some support. Hang in there.  Even if you have to travel to have the surgery it will be worth it!

Hi Anne,   I am sorry to hear about your insurance woos... It stinks.  I would post something on the main board, asking about HCA Hospitals in the South, see what you get.  Also try the NC and Georgia boards.  There might be one just over border. I would contact your insurance company and find out why not MUSC?  As Susann said it is a "Center of Excellence".  Also I would go on the Bariatric Surgery Association Website, I cant remember the address and see if you can what they say about a HCA Hospital.
