Help needed from Charleston Buddies!

Hey Y'all! I know I haven't been on here for quite some time.  Please forgive me!  However, Can a girl get some help anyway?  Pretty please? Next weekend (Oct. 26th - 27th)  My inlaws are visiting from Louisville, and we are taking them to Charleston for the weekend.  We really need a "cheap" but nice and comfortable place to stay.  I found the La Quinta Inn.  It's in North Charleston.  Is this a safe place?  Since we have to pay for the rooms, this is all we can afford.  It will be my family of four, my inlaws (2), and now my mother says she want to come too!  UGHHHH!  But I guess it is a blessing that my family wants to spend time with us.

2499 La Quinta Ln

Charleston, SC 29420 Thanks for any help you can give me.  Also, where are some cheap, but good places to eat around there?  (Can you tell that we are cheap?, but still wanna have a good time!)  Please help!  Terri

Hey ,

The La Quinta is right around the corner from where I work.  It was recently redone, so should be okay.  The parking lot doesn't look scary or anything.

I'll research some cheap but good Chas food for you

Mary,  Thank you sooooo much!  My inlaws have never been to Charleston before, and I know they will love it!  I feel better now with your help!  Let me know about the good Chas food!

You are too nice!

Thanks a bunch!  Terri

Terri,

There is a new Andoulini's Pizza on Rivers Ave, about 5 miles from where you are staying.  They have a 6.00 deal (tax included) with a HUGE piece of NY style pizza, a great salad and a beverage.  There is also a 5.00 deal with a piece and pizza and a beer.  This is always voted the best Pizza in Chas., its really good.  I can't even eat all of the top stuff from one piece.    Sometimes DH and I take the kids downtown and get onto meeting Street.  Across from the Visitor's center next to the museum is a residential street with free parking.  We push the visitor's limit but have never been ticketed.  We then go to the visitor's center, buy a day pass for the DASH shuttle bus and ride the bus.  It stops every 15 minutes or so by the battery, market, aquarium, and waterfront park (the waterfront park is free, has fountains for kids to play in, and a long pier with swings and benches)  We can see everything we want without having to deal with driving and parking.  And the shuttles are not very crowded.  Here's there websites, the day passes are 4.00, under 6 free and there is a Sr discount http://www.ridecarta.com/home/standard.aspx?pid=585&nid=817  If you want a really good dinner after a day downtown, Go to The Boulevard Diner in Mt Pleasant.  Really good local type  food and not too expensive.  If you take the Ravenel bridge and stay in the righ lane the whole time, It will be on your left about 2 miles into Mt Pleasant.  I'll PM you my cell phone # if you get lost or anything. Sorry so long, I just love my hometown.

Mary!

Thank you soooo much!  This is fantastic info!  I am printing out this and putting it in my purse!  WOW!!  We are going to try to do all of this!.  One thing I know we are going to do for sure is take a carriage ride, and then everyone wants to see Boone Hall.  Then eat some low country seafood.  That's why the hotel room needs to be cheap!

I so much appreciate the time you took helping me out!  I will get you cell phone # later in the week.  If I get it now, I will just lose it!  I love your hometown too!

Again thanks so much!  I feel so much better now!

Hey Becky!

Just let me know where to have them pick you up!  You can ride in the backseat!  No Kentucky native would let you ride in the trunk!

My husband and I lived near Jeffersontown for 9 years before David took a job in Spartanburg in 1999.  David's parents live in a little town called "Mt. Eden".  It's in Shelby County.  Want to meet them in Shelbyville?  You are more than welcome to hitch a ride!

Small World!  Go Cats!

Hey Becky!

Well, next time we will pick you up for sure!  Maybe next time we are on our way "home" we can meet you?  Thanks for the advice!  We are going to go on a carriage ride, and plan on going to Boone Hall, and then we want to eat some low country seafood.  That is why the room has got to be fairly cheap!  Christmas time is coming!

God Bless!

Theres always Cracker Barrel and Bessenger's Barbque. Don't really know any "cheap" good places around here. But Hyman's and Hank's downtown are really good but kinda pricey. Have fun in Charleston.
