Love this thread... Great Idea Kathy... I am in conflict, I am a Southern Belle that was raised with a Yankee for a father.  Talk about conflict.  My Mom always taught us to be polite and agree to do everything no matter what..  My father, speak your mind.  So after years of therapy, I speak my mind.   1. Fake people really irrate me!   Dont be nice to my face and talk about me behind my back.  The person you see should be the person you are. 2. People that think just because I am from the South that I am stupid, REALLY get my panites in a wad!   I have an education and I went to college, just because my address is the South does not mean it was supstanard to the rest of the country. 3.  The Southern Good Ole' boy system really chaffes me.  I have had to play that game when I was at The Citadel and had to deal with men that thought I did not know what I was talking about because I had boobs and not a "you know what".  Do not talk down to me because of my gender or the fact that I am from the South. I agree with you, do not ask me how I am doing, unless you really want to know.  I just got back from Publix and got that question at least 4 times in the  minutes I was there.  I wanted to turn around to them and say, I would be doing better if I could get some sleep, have 26 hours in a day and not have to get an angry cat, that I have to chase down, an insulin injection. Oh I feel better now.  Thanks Kathy, this is great. Julie

It is crazy ain't it   I sound a little like my father, from NJ.  Growing up people thought I was from there and not a Native of Charleston. BTW Congrats on the Century Club, you look fantastic!

You know, Julie, I've often wondered if so many people think Southerners (yes, that's a capital S) are so stupid, why do they all want to keep coming here to live? Just a random thought! Dollie

Okay Kathy, you asked for it, LOL First off I agree with everything everyone has said so far.   1-Dr. B is not suppling us with the therapy that we need.  I have issues that need to be dealt with and Dr. A only works a day and a half all week.  I am scared to death I am going to gain what I have already lost back b/c I am not dealing with these issues.  When we signed up, we were told for life.  Okay I am only 6 months out and want to eat everything in the house.   nuff said. 2-Do little girls ever ever shut up?  My youngest talks from the time she gets up til you make her hush and go to bed.  And to top that off, it is about nothing, nothing at all.  Just talk talk and talk some more.  Gosh 3-At my house, My DH is a stay at home Dad and I work a 42 hour week plus overtime.  He does the laundry and all the house hold stuff.  Okay, Is it too much to ask to get all the clothes from the other rooms before doing the laundry.  Since surgery I am trying to help more but geezs.  Jake didn't have any jeans this morning and Daddy said all the laundry is done.  No, Its not, clothes in both bathroom and in his room.  All over the darn house.  MEN!!!! 4-Drivers again, LOL.  People really kill me.  My daughter called yesterday on her way home from Columbia College.  She said she must have a sign on the front of her car that says " Pull out in front of me" LOL.  She said everyone was doing it to her yesterday.       I could go on for days with this, Kathy, great theraphy.  Thanks

Reading this thread is the best thing that's happened to me all day!  Love it! I'm another half-breed, my Mother is from GA, but my Dad was from Minnesota.  But really, the only thing his "Yankee-ness" affected was my accent.  I can go heavy on the Suthern if I want to, but I can also hide it well. Mama was in charge of everything else though, and that includes the raising of three Doormat Daughters.  Some sayings that are ingrained into my DNA, thanks to Mom: "Pretty is as pretty does." "You catch more flies with honey." "Chewing gum in public is tacky.  And if you have to smoke, by God, NEVER smoke in public." "Act like a lady ALL THE TIME." "Write those thank you notes!"
