One week out

Hey guys. I am one week out and a nervous wreck. Worried if I am eating right, worried about the noises my tummy makes. Missing holding my nine month old. Wondering what the heck I have done, you know just the gammut of emotions one would expect after surgery. I did make my first mistake last night and ate too fast, and by the by I felt like I might die...no exaggeration. The only way I can explain the feeling is that I felt stuck. Whatever was in the pouch was stuck and it just was not moving. I had to go to bed and sleep for the rest of the evening. Please tell me it gets better, that I am not being silly, and that it is sooooo worth it guys. I need to here it right now. Also any advice you may have to help me get throught the first couple of weeks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on your surgery. There will be lots of times when things feel like it is stuck.  Sometimes you feel like you ate a brick.   The best thing I have found is to get moving.  Stand up and walk around or strech.  I have had to throw up too, to get past the horrible feeling.  I'm not saying to go throw up, it's just sometimes I have had to. What are you eating?  Just make sure you are not eating whole foods yet.  You could really damage yourself. The next couple of weeks are going to feel like forever.  Then when you get past that, time seems to fly.  It just seems like yesterday that I had surgery, and it was in Feb. Good luck.  Keep asking questions, and I hope you are going to a local support group. Deb

Congrats on your surgery! I am not quite 2 months out and believe me, there is nothing you can ask on here that most of us havent worried about or experienced. It WILL get better and it WILL seem like forever but take it easy, take a deep breath and follow your instructions to a Tee. I, too  have gotten sick a few times, just sip slow on whatever you are eating or drinking. I am sitting here chewing, chewing, chewing the chicken out of a chicken burrito and I NEVER thought I would get to this point, had a horrible time with solids...you'll get through this and all of us are here for you! Trust me, you are experiencing the same problems/questions/emotions that all of us have gone through.  Just follow your docs instructions and hang in there...it gets better.   And one day soon you will be saying...this is the best decision I have ever made.  Life is good!

Hey Cheryl!!! Congrats on the surgery!  Sorry this post is late.  I have been out of town.  It will get better for you!!!!!  You are so fresh from surgery right now.  Everything that you are feeling is completely normal.  Your pouch is in charge right now so just listen to it.  Sip,,,sip,,,sip and chew,,,chew,,,chew.  Those are really the only 2 rules at this point.   Just know that you made a wonderful decision for yourself and your life is getting ready to change!!! You will soon look back and this time and smile. We are here for you!!!!!!
