Introduction of myself

Hi - I'm Monica and am just starting my journey.  I have my first consultation with Dr. Rowitz on October 10th.  Don't know if that will be the meeting that says everything with insurance is fine so here's the next thing to do or if it will be my learning that I don't stand a chance for the lap band. My husband is going with me.  He's a great supporter although I think he's more worried about this than I am.  Oh, I'm 60 years old with 2 grown children and 4 grand children and 2 step grand children.  My oldest grandchild is 18 and the youngest is 5.  I am the only part of my family here in SC (along with my husband, that is) and have not shared this decision with them yet. I've been reading your blogs and postings and can tell there is a great deal of support here for the taking.  I'm looking forward to the adventure and getting to know my fellow WLS buds. Monica

Hi Monica, Dr R is a great DR he did my bypass. As far as the lap band if you are going to the first consult you may deside on the bypass I did. I will be 2 years out Oct 24th and have no regrets and maintaining my loss so far. Most the girls from this area have gone to Dr Bour in Greenville but they are still my buds. There is 4 of us that went to Dr R. Me myself like the fact that he doesn't charge 2000 dollars for BS. Keep posting and feel free to join us we get together on Monday nights occasionally. Welcome!!! Congratulations on making a decision to change your life. I hope that everything goes well for you with Dr. Rowitz. If you find yourself needing another doc, I would highly recommend Dr. Ross in Spartanburg. When I had my surgery he only did gastric bypass, but I believe that he is now doing the lap band.

Thanks for your response, Mary.  I'm a person that want "it" and I  want "it" "now". Having a difficult time waiting for my consultation just to get started.  I'm old enough I can't wait too much longer or no one will help me and then I won't live to be much older.  Heck, I'd like to see great grandchildren some day.
