Has anyone had any experience or suggestions dealing with these 2 insurance companies for skin removal surgeries, tummy tuck etc...? Cigna is my primary and bcbs of iIlinois is secondary.

This is from cigna's website (you will probably need to copy and paste the link). Just click on the pdf file for the abdominalplasty or the skin reduction. It will tell you what Cigna's requirements are for the surgery. The main thing that I remember from it is you have to have stable weight for 6 months and it has to be 18 months after wls.....and there has to be documention of rashes, etc. Good Luck!!!!

Unless you have skin breakdown from rashes, it's hard to get the insurance to pay. Some will cover removal of the panni ( lose skin) but won't cover abdominal muscles being tightened or the belly button being moved. I have no problem with skin breakdown and I need more than just the skin removed, so BC/BS wouldn't pay for any of mine.  Good luck! Mary
