Not a good day... LONG
Ok last post sweet and calm, this post TICKED OFF!!!!!! This may be confusing sorry, it is confusing to me
I got a call from The Citadel, my old job. I was under the impression, because no one told me different, that as long as my official last day of work was at the beginning of the month that my insurance was covered until the end of the month and I did not have to rush to get coverage under COBRA! Well the called today saying that one place had my last day as Aug 29 and HR had my last day as Sept 4th, which was correct. I told them Sept 4th officially, but that I had surgery on Aug 30th and took the rest of the time on sick leave. Well quess what, I was not able to do that, that I had to work at least 1 full day at the beginning of Sept for insurance to be covered until the end of the month. So basically since my last working day, in other words the last day I was actually working and not on leave, was Aug 29, my insurance was only effective until Aug 31st at Midnight. That if I would have come back for just one day around my official termination date, then I would have been covered until Sept 30th. Luckily the insurance company has not gotten wind of this and has paid some of the medical bills that I have had in Sept. I called the Dr. Harvery's office and all these visits I have been to are covered and they can not bill me as long as the appointments are related to the surgery for 90 days. Whew!! So now I am waiting to hear what The Citadel is going to do about it because no one told me I had to work in Sept. I was under the impress that I could take my last day on sick leave, because I do not get paid for those days. My department knew I was not coming back to work after Aug 29th, when I mentioned something to HR, I was told that she did not want to hear about it. If someone would have told me I would have worked.
So The Citadel has not only cost me at this present moment and time about $500 in Doctor's bills other than the PS, but my COBRA payment is going to be over $1200 instead of $875. Anyone know a good lawyer that deals with Insurance companies. This is crazy and I am about to eat everything in sight. I just got off the phone with my therapist, God love her, she was like how are you doing, I told her I want to eat everything in sight and thanks God this happened around lunch and I had a small salad with some sesame chicken and a couple of pieces of cheese. But trust me, there is sugar-free pudding in the fridge and I am about to eat all 5 1/2 cup servings.
Well thanks for reading... Sorry so long... Hope to see some of you guys tonight!

I can go the distance... I do not care how far... I know every mile will be worth my while.
My goal in life is to be as good of a person as my DOGS already think I am!

Oh man, that stinks. I am beginning to hate insurance companies more each day. I got an approval letter to have my WLS and then they didn't pay the bills. I called them about 3 months afterward and was told that they didn't cover WLS. I said well I have an approval letter and gave her the reference # and she was like oh okay, LOL. She was very nice but it seems like a company that deals with this would be more organized than that, LOL. Hope your day gets better.

I really think that insurance company should pay for all your doctor bills. They really did you wrong! It makes me mad to think they would be so sorry not to at least send you some kind of notices ahead of time. Just wrong! But don't give up. Keep on them. You may have to get a lawyer, but do what you feel is necessary.
You will be in my thoughts, good luck!

Oh that sucks!!!!
About 12 years ago I had a breast reduction. I had 2, not one but two approval letters. About two weeks after my surgery I learned that my insurance had ended 2 days before.
Even with those letters, I ended up paying for it.
I hate insurance companies too. I think they shoud be renamed SCAM companies.
