Good Morning All,
I hope that everyone is doing well. I am STILL in
Well for the laughs...
Contrary to what you’ve been told, everyone in Miami IS not physically fit. In addition to a Yoga-Lates(combination of yoga and pilates) Class once per week, I have since added Kickboxing to my repertoire of exercise (trying to work off my last few pounds that WILL NOT MOVE!) Well I went to my first kickboxing class last night believing that I would be the only one who was so grossly uncoordinated- NOT SO!!! The first instruction was to jump rope for 6 minutes. Well I have been fat for all of my life, so jumping rope was NEVER an option for me. I couldn’t get the darn thing over my head, much less under my feet, WHILE encouraging my feet to lift themselves from the floor!!!! Needless to say, I may have gotten 6 consecutive jumps in before the 6 minutes was done…. And then for the kickboxing…left, right, hook, undercut, kick- WHAT???? My version was more like right, right, do I kick now??? Finally the instructor stood in front of me to talk me through the right, left…let’s just say that I was BAD!!!
I have decided to view this experience as a positive instead of a failure in that 2 years ago I could not even USE the word kickboxing in the same sentence as my name, so I have accomplished great things b/c for the first time in my life I looked like a normal participant!! I am excited about that and about all the things that weight loss has changed about me and my life. I still have about 15 pounds give or take that I want to lose to reach my own personal goal; however I have maintained and remained under Dr. Byrne’s goal for me since last December- Almost 1 Year!! So I will continue to work at the Yoga-Lates and Kickboxing with the belief that no matter how bad I really am, some movement is better than nothing at all!! Who knows maybe I will finally reach my own goal before I come back home…
Have a great day!!!

hi Towana.... I have heard wonderful things about you, and look forward to meeting you one day (after I have moved and you come back to your city!) :) I am not a graceful person on my feet at ALL and have wanted to take a yoga class or something like that for some time. I do all my exercise at home, and its all kind of on my own. I also have a bike... but (stationary-recumbant) that I use as much as possible. I would never have done this pre-wls either.
I am going to sign up at Susan L.'s gym on a monthly basis and even look into getting a personal trainor for the muscle toning.. I am beyond excited about all this! Kickboxing?! WOW! now that sounds like FUN!! But I know what you mean about...it perhaps being hard to take it too seriously?! I don't know if I could do it!!!? omg! :) Congrats on all of your success and Have a great weekend! Jill :)
