I was thinking about things that I want to learn to do or relearn now that I am smaller.   Jen inspires me with her dancing.   Kathy, Melissa, and Chris are RUNNING!!! Towana is getting her master's degree and wearing a size 4 What do you want to do????  Here's my list 1.  Learn to shag (the dance Leslie, I''ve been married long enough to do your version okay) 2.  Relearn to surf, do you think a 40 year old woman could surf??? 3. Learn to  Ride horses, my dad has some 4.  Go to Las Vegas for  a totally wild weekend, you know, one of those "What happens in Vegas" weekends 5.  Embrace each day as an adventure, not as another day just to get through. Hope everyone is having a great weekend Mary

Mary Mary!     What an excellent post to see on a sunday morning, while I sit here surrounded by boxes.....  in my bahhhhhstan apartment!      Well,  I have so many dreams.   One was to be able to go off of the medications I was on.... for High Blood Pressure (I think this move may put me back on them ... lol!)   I went off my acid reflux med..... (again...  I hope I can stay off that!)  and I went off the high cholest med  (that one I know I can stay off, I barely can eat these days.....!!) I am inspired by all of you, every day and by the folks that have yet to have the surgery.    Jennifer Insipries me how she takes care of Adrianna all by herself and works full time AND is getting her degree (and she has a dog that is a veddy veddy big boy!)    AND she is a homeowner already.. she does this all on her own and still manages to smile and reach out to others! I have had a few of those vegas weekends.... and on one of them... we actually went to RED ROCK CANYON to go 'horse back riding'   well..... yours truly could not get up on the horse...  ugggh.   I had a bit of a 'panic attack'   hahaha  so I had to wait it out while my 3 friends went and explored the canynon at sunset.   (somehow that story never stayed in vegas and all the people back home knew.... hahahaha)  my friends 'spilled'  oh well!      Mary.... I will go to Vegas with you, its FUN.  Remind me to tell you the stories when I see you that I cant post here.... lol! Surf?  omg.... i can barely stand up in the water...that is so great that you can 're-surf'   I did go on a motorcyle ride in SC on one of my visits and that was truly exciting... never would have done that pre-weightloss (well, not while I was needing the gbs!) i miss you all so much.    sooooooo much.    hugs, J.

Mary, what a great post! It was so very nice to talk with you for a little while yesterday ... I hope your evening improved a bit later on. Like Jill, I am inspired by everybody I've met on this path of ours here.  Every story is unique, but every single person who has struggled through the pain (physical and emotional) of  obesity and then taken the necessary steps to live a better life ... well, I look to ALL of you for strength and inspiration! It's no surprise, I'm sure, to learn that I share many of the same dreams you have, Mary!  we must have been sisters in another life or SOMETHING! 1. I want to learn to dance too!  And The Shag tops my list.  We'll be at Cherry Grove the week of SOS this year ... I may have to sneak away and find some nice man to teach me!  LOL  (And Kathy sitll owes me an Electric Slide lesson.  Ahem.) 2.I want to learn to ride horses too.  My crazy-as-a-bat mother-in-law has horses, but there's not enough wine in the world to get me past the first hour with her.  I'll have to come up with another plan on that one.   3. I'd like to take another "Girls Trip" ... whether to Vegas or a cruise ... let's just plan one soon!

4. I want to finally decide what I want to do when I grow up.  And then do it.

5.  I want to be "in love".

6. I want to learn to swim.  (Teach me, Mary!)

7. I want to spend precious time with my soon-to-be-born granddaughter.   8.  I'd love to have some new breastesses. 9. I want to be FIT.  And active. 10.  I don't want to miss another moment.

Now I'm off to make #10 happen TODAY!  Hope you all enjoy a lovely Labor Day ... GO TIGERS!

Well, I wouldn't exactly call what I am doing "running."  Its more like "walking really fast and *****ng about it the whole way..." BUT there are a few things I'd like to do too. 1.  Be a RUNNER!!  You know, one of those people that wakes up every morning excited about getting their morning run in?  One of those people that gets injuries from running too much, but still runs anyway even though the doctor hasn't given them the go ahead?  You know, one of THOSE people.  I wanna be one of them. 2.  I want to run a marathon too. 3.  I want to learn to swim!! (Dawn!  I thought I was the only non-swimming person here!) 4.  I want to be comfortable in anything I wear. 5.  I want to try out some of those bedroom moves you only see in the movies...LOL!

Sounds like all of us want to learn a new dance step or two, lol. Here is my list................. 1. Learn to shag and learn the electric slide good enough to not embarrass everyone around me. I       have a dance learning disability. 2. Be able to go clothes shopping and pick out something sexy and clingy and not  have to worry      about lumps, bumps, rolls, and anything else disgusting showing through. This includes a      bathing suit that my boobs actually fit in and don't fall out the bottom of those so called cups       inside. 3. I would love to get back on a horse again and not have to feel sorry for the poor thing having to carry my fat azz . The last time I was on one he threw me off and knocked the wind out of me and I have never been back on one again. He wasn't subtle about not wanting to haul me around, lol. 4. I want to get off my C-pap machine but right now I am still terrified to give it up, it's like my security blanket and the one night I didn't wear it DH said I snored bad and was gasping for air, so sleep apnea hasn't gone away yet. 5. I want to live long enough to see great grandkids. Because of my mother dying when I was       a teen, I have taken to asking god to" just let me live long enough to see special things in my       life"  one at a time, I don't want to overload him like I did the horse, lol. First thing was, let me       live long enough to get my kids grown so they didn't have to go through what I did. Second       was, let me live to see grandkids. So far he has been good to me and got me through the       first two. I have accomplished  several things that I had hoped to accomplish with this weight loss already ,so hopefully I will shorten my list more in the coming years. I think an all girl trip to Vegas would be exciting, just make it next year so I will have some money to spend, lol. Mary

OK, I am not on the losing side yet but I have a really good idea of what I want to do. 1.   I want my husband to give me a pigg-back ride. 2.   I want to go on a beach and not be afraid that someone will try and push me back to see because they think I beached myself.  3.   I want to run again. I was an athelete in high school and I need to get back to that. I miss the burn and the feeling of a good nights sleep after putting your body through its paces. I have always been big, but I was also an athelete. 4.   Feel good about myself. 5.   Stop shopping at Lane Giant (yes I know the real name is Lane Bryant).  6.   Wear a dress without feeling like I went shopping at a tent and awning store.  7.  Have children. Enjoy those children and be able to keep up with them. I have more, but this is a good start. Not to mention the goals that I have set myself. I look forward to checking each one off of my list.  Nat the Brat

Oh my gosh, you've all given me some great ideas!  And more dreams to aim for!!! I DO know this - I want to: 1) Buy clothes in the single digits... 2) Walk thru the doors in my house face forward (as opposed to sideways in some)... 3) AT THE LEAST, do the Cooper River Bridge Walk (I've dreamed of this ever since I moved to Charleston)... 4) Take every single walking tour in downtown Charleston! 5) (This is graphic, so be forewarned)  Go to the bathroom & not have to lift up my tummy - 'nuff said... 6) Walk the stairs at my work instead of constantly taking the elevator (it's only 1 flight, but there ain't NO WAY right now)... 7) Get to goal & reward myself with a motorcycle!!! 8) Take some really awesome road trips on my new MOTORCYCLE!!!! 9) SHOCK THE HELL out of my family in Texas!  Yes, I did swear! 10) Have at least one long-time friend or acquaintance walk right by me without recognizing me - how sweet is that going to be?! Thank-you for your inspirations, your support & your guidance!  You are all beautiful & I treasure reading each & every word! Guess what?!! ONLY 10 MORE DAYS!!!!! 9-12-07!!!!!  Love & Hugs, Hellen

Hi all!  New to WLS, Tuesday 8-28-07 to be exact.  Home since Thurs and I have to say it's been interesting, but having went this far, there is no turning back.  To me, the worse thing was fighting when I came out of the anesthesia.  They had to re-sedate me and I was sore until yesterday, literally felt like I had been in a fight!  It was weird.  The clear liquid isn't bad, but trying to get that darn protein down is hard.  I've been on here since Friday reading and learning about this site, this is my first post!   My dream is to be able to play ball, run, play and get in the floor without hurting myself to play with my son!  He turned 6 in June and has Down Syndrome.  He is very active and besides above, I need to be able to catch him if he decides to run!  Right now he can outrun me, sad but true.  I want to be a "cool" mom, not the fat mom with that special kid, but hey that's a cool mom that Spencer has!  Another dream is to learn ballroom dancing, I love watching Dancing with the Stars. Third would be to go to a resturant and sit in a booth without being embarrased when my stomach hits the table and scoots it onto my husband.  4th is to show everyone that Yes I can do it and Yes I will do it, jus****ch and see! I look forward to making many new friends through this experience.  I think, but am not sure one of you visited Hillcrest Hospital on your anniversary date but I didn't see you.  Mike one of the patients that had surgery with me on Tuesday told me!   I love all the support you give each other here and look forward to having those shoulders to lean on!  Thanks Spencersmum

Congratulations----    I am so happy for you and welcome to the losing side.  Before you know it, you'll have hit everything on that list.  One of the best parts of post wls for me is playing with my kids.

Don't worry too much about protein yet (I know, its hard not to)  Just keep the liquids with you and sip sip sip.  I lived on frozen and slushy crystal lite.   Welcome to the board, I can't wait to watch you as you become a loser Mary
