I am just wondering incase I am denied by my insurance what does this procedure cost from Dr. Bour? I have had so much trouble with Aetna approving just tiny medical things in the past that I have very low expectations of them. I am willing to finance this surgery though as I feel that at a BMI of over 40 that I really need it.

Hey Jess... I had Aetna... they were my secondary but my first would not cover anything to do with weightloss.  I was approved fairly quickly. Don't think negative... it is going to be approved!!  Pam

I had Aetna too...and they told me to look in their clinical bulletins and that if I met the criteria then I would be approved....I thought on the first submittal I would be approved..however they asked me to have a more recent 3 month dietary evaluation and I did that and was approved almost as soon as they finally got the paperwork.

Good Luck and Push for what you know you deserve.

My dad and myself were self pay through dr. bour. because our insurance has a written exclusion for weight loss surgery no matter what. my total cost ended up being around 35,000.00. they tell you "23,500" but thats just the hospital charges. the dr charges 2,000 enrollment fee (was 2,500 when i signed up) and then 7,500 for the surgery. so that made it 33,500 plus my charges for  the endoscopy and stuff all added up to around 35,000. but one good thing is it is tax deductible. praying you will be approved and not have to worry about it bc its alot of money!  good luck! jen
