I am scheduled to go to Dr. Bour's weight loss session on September 13th and I was wondering has anyone else been to one of these and what was it like? Also is there any others here that are going for the info session? ~Jess

Hi Jess! Everyone who has surgery with Dr. Bour attends the info seminar.  I had my surgery with him 16 months ago.   It was the best decision of my life.  You will find out about the surgery....his program....all the requirements.  You will get tons of info there.  Good luck to you and let us know if we can answer any questions for you!!!!!

What are his general time lines and such for surgery? I am really new to this and I don't know how the programs work, I suppose that is what the session is for but I am just so curious lol :P

There is lots of information that he gives out about the secessions. Everything from the types of procedures, to expectations when your a patient, to risk, side effects, and benefits. I did some reading first so I could go to the session with my own questions. He takes questions during and after. He even has a patient that thas been through the procedure come and give their account.

Insurance plays a big role in the time line. Just hang in their and do what they tell you about your insurance company and things will happen.

Everything hinges on your insurance approval as to how fast everything goes. I attended his info session in July and had my surgery Oct. 31. It would have been in Sept. but the hospital didn't have any dates until Oct. My insurance company approved fairly fast, so once that happens everything else falls into place quicky. You attend the info session then set up an appointment for your first visit. You will take a psychology test, then they will schedule you with the psychologist and the nutritionist and Dr. Bour. You will have to complete the required amount of pre-op classes also. Who is your insurance with? Maybe someone on here has used them and can tell you the requirements even though most companies have their own stipulations in their policies. Good luck and welcome aboard. Mary

A lot of it depends on your insurance.  If your insurance require you to have a supervised diet....he will tell you about the up front money ( I don't know how much it is now)....tons of info.
