Hi Pam.....   Do you like the premixed protein drinks? If so I can tell you of 2 that I love and LIVE ON!   My favorite is:   GNC 50 GRAM SLAM It has 4 grams of sugar, 1 gram of fat, 8 grams of carbs and 240 calories, but this is for a tall 14 0z can!   They come in vanilla which is my personal favorite, chocolate, cookies & cream and Bannana.   IF you are a coffee drinker, I do this every morning, I pour 1/2 cup coffee and pour in half cup of vanilla GRAND SLAM, taste like a vanilla Latta. So I drink a few cups a coffee with this and I have 50 grams of protein that way for breakfast, YUM!   I keep a few of these in the fridg. to drink cold and some on the shelve to drink in my coffee, but I'M NEVER without them, EVER! sometimes I'll also have 1/2 a piece of cheese toast or a few cubes of just cheese.   my other favorite drink is also bought at GNC and is called LEAN BODY I don't drink it as often, but it has 0 grams of sugar, 9 gramsof fat, 9 grams of carbs, and 260 calories for a 17 oz. bottle The one I get in this is Chocolate Ice Cream (It taste just like a chocolate yahoo****ep these in the frig and drink them over ice.   I really have never watched the carbs, fat & calories on this journey, only my Sugar intake. (But being 16 months out, I need to star****ching the other stuff to I guess)   If it has more than 5 grams of sugar per meal, I don't eat or drink it. It has worked for me so far.   I have noticed that when it's supposed to be "that time of month" I gain around 3-4 pounds  but they go away the following week.    I If I get a sweet tooth, I run to my fruit, I love watermellon, strawberries, and grapes! (Ask Dianne, she'll tell you about my fruit cravings) LOL!  And Murray puts out a great sugar free cookies with splenda taste like the real thing!   I STILL have a problem eating chicken, pork, or beef, Thank goodness I LOVE fish because I can get in a whole meal of that in and it's very high in protein.   Just me rambling this morning and thought I would give a couple of sugestions on protein drinks.   Love ya, Debra

Debra you are an ANGEL!  I know I need to supplement protein but just have not found the ones that really get me going... I am going tonight to GNC and getting me one of these and trying them.... Oh, and thanks for the tip about the sugar content... I think the Optifast drinks had 18 grams of sugar... I should have known better. Thanks again... I am going to bookmark this post for future reference. I hope all is well with you and yours.... Pam

Melissa - Full liquids includes protien shakes.  As long as the sugar content in these is not too high (you have to be really careful this soon out.) you can probably use them.  Just a warning though, it will take you FOREVER to finish a 14 oz. serving.  It will make you feel very full.  There is a definite difference going from full liquids from clear.  Kathy

Thanks, Kathy! I guess they will go over my options tomorrow? Do you recall what you liked/were able to have for protein on full liquids?

Hi Melissa,   The GNC 50 Gram Slam will be good for you with only 4 grams of sugar and 50 grams of proteinBut it is something that may take you most of the day sipping on at only one week out. If I'm not drinking it in coffee, I drink it over ice because I love my cold drinks REALLY, REALLY cold!  The cost is $3.49 a can here in Spartanburg, which I complained about, but my hubby pointed out that I paid more for that for a meal and that this was a meal for me and something that my body NEEDS now.   ALSO if you are a member at GNC you can use your gold card and get 20% off the drinks. I buy them by the case.   Good luck, I hope you like them. I'm sure Dr. Bour will give you some good suggestions also. God Bless, Debra

So they have only 4 grams of sugar, but do they have sugar alcohols? I can't get near sugar alcohols they kill me, so I can't use a lot of things that everyone else seems to love. I still use Unjury now that I can tolerate the taste. I'm getting ready to start back using prostat  before my plastics just to increase my protein intake. It's not because I love the stuff but I need a way to get the protein in without a lot of calories. Let me know about the sugar alcohols. Hugs! Mary

I just checked out the website - www.gnc.com - & they've got a BOGO sale on the 50 Gram Slam going on.  I don't know about shipping costs, but this sounds like a pretty good deal! Thanks, Debra - I'm definitely gonna check this out before surgery (9/12/07)!!!!  Can we say HALLELUJAH! I'm open for any and all suggestions, too! {{Hugs to all}} Hellen
