Dr Bour and Cigna

Hello my friends...

I have a question that I hope some of you might be able to help answer. A couple of questions actually. What I want to know is how many of you went to Dr Bour and of that number, how many have or had CIGNA? I am curious because if you have gone through Dr Bour you are aware of his "fee". And for arguments sake, I do think that it is fair and a good move on his part. It tends to weed out the less dedicated and lets him focus on the people that are there for the right reasons. Anyway...

The reason why I am wondering is because I want to know how much money, if any, you have been able to get reimbursed for with CIGNA. And if there is anything you can tell me that might make the claims process that much easier. Thanks for any and all guidance you can provide!!! Nat the Brat

Hi Nat! Dr. Bour did my RNY on May 15th of this year. I can't help you with the Cigna part because I had Blue Cross and was extremely lucky. I just hope they are that easy next summer when I schedule my PS!  You will love Dr. Bour and his staff. I am very impressed with the total program they have and didn't mind paying the upfront fee. I am sure I will get my money's worth! LOL!
Hugs,
Karen

Hi, I had cigna and Dr. Bour, LOL.  Actually the way it works is you pay the fee up front and then Dr. Bour's office files a claim each time your seen.  I haven't gotten any money back and it was well worth it.   That is paying for nut. and psycholoist for the rest of your life.  Sorry I can't be of any help on that part.

Hey!  I don't have Cigna, but yes Dr. Bour did my surgery!!  He is awesome and I would have him do it again a million times over. Good luck on your journey!!!!

It's my understanding that the upfront fee charged by Dr. Bour's office cannot be claimed for reimbursement with your insurance, no matter which insurance company you might have.  At least that's how it was explained to me.  (Is that what you were asking about?) I didn't have coverage with Cigna, but when i went to the info seminar they made sure we understood that we would not be able to file that initial fee ($2,500 at that time) with our insurance company.  Now the cost of the surgery, the hospital, and the future appointments with Dr. Bour ... those are all subject to your individual policy. The office staff (at Bariatic Solutions) knows their stuff, and has lots of experience dealing with each and every insurance company. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask Carmen. Good luck with getting things underway!

Cigna wont pay for it because its in arbitration of his Cigna contract...

Hey, Nat! I, too have Cigna and the up front fee is not reimburseable by any insurance, its just the fee you pay for the nutrition classes and counseling you receive for life, etc etc. Hope that helps and good luck! Melissa

if you have a cafeteria plan through work, you can claim the fee on that but you are basically just reimbursing yourself less fed taxes.

What I was told was that since Cigna does cover nutrition and psych evals, etc that since I am paying for them, that the office will give me an itemized list of what I had done and the cost associated with it. Then I can file that with Cigna and be reimbursed for it minus the copay. That is from the office and the people at CIGNA. I am confused.
