Hi, guys!!! Thank you to you all for your thoughts and prayers and well wishes. Thanks so much Dawn for calling to check on me!!   I actually ended up staying an extra day in the hospital and came home saturday instead of friday due to the fact my bariatric bed was defective and would not lower completely, so I had to use my abdominal muscles excessively to move around and get in and out of the bed.  I did walk about every 4 hours the entire time i was in the hospital, which eased the pain greatly. by the time Dr bour checked on me friday morning, i could hardly move, though...he came around 6 am and said for me to stay another day, i was in excruciating pain.  They did end up switching my bed to a regular smaller bed that was much lower and boy that was a life saver!   By saturday morning, I was walking around 4 am and ready to go home!  I have actually been doing some light house chores today and trying to stay busy. I am having one small problem, I am NOT getting in my protein   I am not able to stomach ANY of the protein stuf I bought so I have basically been on water since coming home from the hosptial, taking only sips here and there of the protein drinks....I know   bad girl! Any suggestions???  With much love to you all!!

Hey Melissa... I am so glad you are home and doing well. I remember those days... I know the first days you do not like anything and your tastes have changed so much. Get in all the liquid you can because you do not want to end up back in the hospital for dehydration.  I lived on Crystal Light Lemonade and the non-flavored protein powder.(No flavor my foot!!!)  Just hang in there and this time will pass so quickly you will hardly remember it. Congrats and hope to see ya soon.... Call me if there is anything I can do for you. Pam 801-4345

I remember those days too! YUCK! I made a concoction (sp) of the non-flavored (right...) protein (2 scoops if I remember right), water and 2 (yes 2) crystal light raspberry lemonaide. It killed the non-flavored protein!! I hope this helps!
Hugs,
Karen

Oh my...Do I remember those days.  Trust me, you will live if you don't get your protein in.  I didn't get in any for like a week.  I felt pretty tired but once you go to full liquids it will be a little easier.  I am almost 11 months out and I survived and you will too.  Hang in there.  I did drink a lot of water and ate popsciles.  That way you don't get dehydration...that is your biggest risk right now.  I thought I would never make it through that week...but looking back on it, I barely remember it.   Anymore questions? Hey~~ Sip...sip...sip!!!!!  That is the most important thing you can do at this point.  Try to get some protein in if you can.  I had a terrible time the first weekend.  By that next monday I was trying to get some protein in.  I had to use a different protein flavor everytime.  I did not like anything and could not stomach it a second time around.  I had several different samples and I would try to get in as mouch of each one that I could.  You should be moving up the full liquids on Thursday, right?  It will get much easier then.  Call me if you want to talk and I can give you some more ideas!!! My saving grace was Prostat, yes, that nasty tasting stuff that makes everyone gag just thinking about it. I tried every protein mix that I had bought, even the unflavored one and couldn't stand them. So I figured this......... two shot glasses of Prostat  in the morning and two in the afternoon and evening was better than all day of sipping nasty protein mixes. It wasn't as bad as it seemed to me when I first tried it at Dr. Bours office, so I managed just fine getting it down. In fact I am getting ready to start using it again before my plastic surgery to get more protein. It does get better with time, in the begining everything tasted nasty to me, even things I use to love. Hang in there, you will be fine. Hugs! Mary

Oh boy do I remember those doys, LOL.  I never got in my protein, just the thought of it made me gag.  I am allergic to red dye and the one protein drink I could drink, didn't stay with me long.  Since I have found a bottle of protein100---it has 15 grams of protein in 1 oz.  You can drink it by itself or mix it in something.  It has an orange smell and no sugar.  I found it at the Whole Foods Market on Woodruff road.  They have small bottles, I can't remember how much, for like 2 or 3 dollars.  They also have a giant bottle for like $40.  I tried mixing it with a whole bottle of water and I couldn't handle it that much of it.  I think it would be okay with just a little water or something that already has the orange flavor.  I am doing better with protein but all 5 of the women that had surgery that week was having trouble getting in the protein.  I hope this helps and just keep sipping.  Also, I had trouble getting my fluids in and have now found Propel (no red dye).  If I can be of any more assistants just pm me.  Have a great day!!!!!

Hi Tammy My name is Dollie.  I live in Summerville and am part of the LCBB group.  Another one of our members and I swear by Protein 100!  I mix two ounces in my OJ each morning for my morning protein boost.  It is great.  Whole Foods is the only place we can find it.  We are looking into ordering it straight from the manufacturer.  I'll let you know what we find out.

We have all been there and boy do we feel for you. Getting the protein in is not easy by any means, I think I ended up trying about every one under the sun and never really found one I truly liked. I just tolerated it and knew it was temporary. It does get much easier once you move to full liquids, then you will be sick of the full liquids andr eady to move to the next. Profect, I still keep those on hand for days I feels sick was the least of the worse for me.

Hang in there we are all pulling for you.
