north charleston folks, need advice

My son and I are coming down Friday for him to audition for american idol. I have never been to Charleston before. Can any of you give me any directions as to where the place is for the auditions, how to get there, a cheap place we can spend the night, etc? Thanks for any info. Anita

Take I-26 to I-526 south (toward Savannah). You'll see the N Chas Colloseum/Performing Arts Center on you left  within a few miles. There are no cheap rooms in Charleston anymore.
