With my class reunion just around the corner.. I've been e-mailing and calling all my high school friends to make sure everyone makes it home!  I called my best freind Lucy on Saturday just to talk ** we talk once a month to catch up** .. and to give her an update on who's going to be at the reunion.. and she tell's me.. " Now I don't want to scare you or anything.. but since you're coming home and you're going to see me.. I just wanted to let you know that I had a heart attack a few months back and had to have heart surgery" .... my response.. " EXCUSE ME ?? You're 43 years old.. and you had a WHAT!! " ...  Seems Miss Lucille didn't want to scare anyone.. or have anyone come rushing home .. so the only people that knew about the heart attack was her family.  I guess this was her wake up call.. because she quit smoking THAT DAY (she smoked almost a pack and a half A DAY! ) .. AND...joined a gym and goes faithfully every morning....

Now I was kinda pissed she didn't tell me about this... and that I had to find out this way.. I mean I have known her since 9th grade when we met in Mr Grogan's New England Folklore Class..And I started to give her a piece of my mind.. when I realized... I never told her I had WLS !!! How can I pass judgement on her.. when I myself am guilty of what I'm accusing her of...

Nope ... you can't be mad at her for not telling, when you did the same thing.  Boy, I'm glad to hear she's doing well though!

I hope you and Lucy have a great time together, catching each other up on all that you've missed!

WOW Stephanie!  That is terrible news. Thank God she is  ok.  That is so scary.  Sounds like it has had a positive impact on her life, though.  I wish her lots of luck!!!!

Actually that is a wake up call for us all.  Heart attacks know no age.  We have been given the opportunity to have a second chance, but only if we use it right. Ladies, we are kicking the being over weight part, but we have to stop smoking (those of you who do), start going to the gym or walking or just plain get moving and eat the right foods. Thank your friend for us all as you pass on our best wishes to her.
