PREREGISTRATION UH OH

Greenville hopsital system called me last night to recertify me...they had to get my correct insurance info, emergency contact, etc, etc. At the end of the phone call, they asked for $800 down and asked did i want to pay by credit or debit....i was like 'ummm neither?'. Ugh, less than 2 weeks before surgery...WHO CAN COME UP WITH THAT? (We dont have credit cards) So, my question is, will they work on payment arrangements or am I in jeopardy of having my surgery cancelled/postponed?

Melissa I don't have any answers to your question but maybe if you call them and pay a down payment they might work the rest into payments... Anyway I want to wish you luck on your surgery and journey that's coming up...  Just hang on tight it's going to be a ride of your life... *hugs* Stephie

aw man!!! that sucks!  I dont know...  MUSC makes you pay it all 14 daysbefore surgery or no surgery...  but maybe G'Ville will be nicer!!!

they are pretty good to deal with.. to give you an idea of how much the 800 bucks probably wont make them sweat.. i was self-pay due to exlcusion in my policy and i had to pay 16,000 the morning of surgery before they would cut me. and i could pay the rest the months following at my convienence.. which ended up being about another 16k. They are real nice, talk to jeanine i think her name is.. tall black haired lady. I had a CT Scan the other day and they said "We are requiring a down payment of $250 now for CT Scans. "i was like WHOA I didnt know about that! she said "i know, can you pay anything on this? " and i paid 50 bucks.. so theyre nice. im sure they will let you pay some and make a payment plan for the rest. good luck!

I'm hijacking the thread for a moment ... please forgive! Good to know ... the $250 CT scan thing ... I'm scheduled for Monday at 12:30 for mine.  Do you know any results from yours?   I had a OK day, pain-wise, yesterday.  Today ... different story.  I ate a banana, and ended up calling the office in tears.  I was on my way out the door to the ER, waiting for hubby to come home to drive me.  As the pain was finally letting up, Katie called ... and talked to me about the possiblity of the evil internal hernia.   I'm supposed to spend the weekend eating soft foods ... a banana is soft!!! (yogurt, eggs, etc ... thank God for Fage), with an emphasis on protein, of course.  Anyway, CT scan on Monday, appointment to see Dr. Bour on Thursday.  Pain is better now ... though my intestines feel bruised, and my back is aching.  What a pain ... literally.  I don't want to eat anything! Let me know when you get your scan results. Love you ...

its "in case" your insurance doesnt pay etc,, they dont make you since its new policy..

make SURE when you get there, that at 1 pm they give you the junk to start drinking. they had someone "filling in" behind the desk, and i kept asking "i thought i was supposed to start drinking at 1" she kept saying "theyll come get you" .. well 2:30 rolls around (was supposed to be scanned at 2!!) and i was like enough is enough.. i went up there again, and another girl was like "oh my god they havent given you the barium? " i was like um NO! .. so then i had to drink this gallon of crap thats not too bad but real strong. i got the fruit punch, its crystal light. and once you finish drinking it all (i left some, told her to forget it i was done!) THEN They start you on an HOUR before being scanned.. needless to say i didnt leave until 4. I got there at 12:30.. hadnt ate since 10am. (but i was able to eat after drinking the crap so take a pack of crackers while you wait your hour, or something you can tolerate to keep your sugar up) the ladies back there were great.. did the IV contrast (it feels like you have pissed in your pants when they do it, no lie. i had to even reach down to check! lmao)

im getting freakin aggrevated w/ the results .. i called yesterday bc radiology faxed results to them.. well katie called back and said Dr bour wont read their results bc they have never diagnosed a patient when they had a hernia, dr bour has always found it not them. So he would be at the hospital this morning and would read them himself and let me know. Still havent heard anything. day 3. i called katie this morning left a msg, she was in with patients.. didnt hear anything. called now after reading ur post. shes at the hospital now. still havent heard anything. sigh. i just wanna know! the pain sucks. and im glad im not dieing or anything.. lol *knock on wood* .. yea i just freaked myself out saying that.. lol but anyways.. good luck with ur ct hope u feel better love ya!!

Hey Melissa - I went through this too, and it was for the same amount. $800.  I paid them $100, and they billed me for the rest after the dust settled.  Don't sweat it!  Please keep me updated on your big day, and know that I will be praying for you!  Can't wait to see you at the post-surgery support group!
