Looked for you last night but did not see you.  Were you there?  If you were, I'm sure you heard a baby wailing in the left corner of the room that was my granddaughter, she was tired of traveling.  I was really shocked at the number of people that were there.  It was really good, and I'm on my way.  What point are you at now?  I hope I can hv my psy eval sent since I just had it last month, but I will have to do their nutritional counseling which is way more extensive than I've had it looks like.  Holla back at me.

Hi, I was there and so was my husband. I remember two ladies walking in with a baby. Did you come in a little after 6pm? I had on a purple shirt and my husband had on a white shirt. We sat on the left side of the building almost at the back. I enjoyed it as well. There was alot of information and I think Dr.Givens did a wonderful job explaining everything. I have not had any of my tests as of yet. I wanted to wait until I go to the consultation first. I am so excited and my husband has a better understanding as well. We went to a support group meeting on 08/01 and that was FUN!!! I will be going again on the first Wednesday in September. Keep in touch!!! LOl

That was us, the baby slept for awhile then muy daughter had to take her out after she woke up.  We were in the left corner.  I too enjoyed the presentation, and a lot of questions were answered.  It is good you have support.  My childeren still have some reservations, but I think it will be good for me.  My daughter said I might end up looking like Star Jones LOL

Hi!  As an aside, we lived in Florence for 13 years starting in 1978.  All 3 of my kids were born there ! Anyway, I had my RNY done by Dr. Glen Strickland in Lexington back in August of 2004.  He and his whole office are great!!!!  I never had ANY problems and they will answer any question and are great at quickly returning calls.  I liked and trusted him so much, I went back this past January for my hernia repair rather than stay in Spartanburg w/a doctor I didn't know!!  Good luck on your journey!!  Hope you like Dr. Strickland, too!!

Hugs,
Connie

Good to hear from you.  How has your journey been.  Do you have any before and after pics posted.  I bet "U look Marvelous"!  I have heard nothing but good things about this program, I'm glad I sought out an alternative program.  It says a lot about a dr when you go back to him for another surgery. Thanks for the reply.  Are you still in florence?  This is not my home either.  I'm originally from Lake View.  We moved over here in 1997,  we are happily divorced now, but we both are still here and all of the 4 kid except one, who is in DC.    Thanks for the reply.

My journey has been great!!  I lost 130 pounds total and got to my goal of 150.  The last 6 mos. or so, I struggle w/5-10 pounds but mainly I'm maintaining.  I would have liked to lose more - but at 53, I'm happy w/where I am!  I don't have any pics posted - too computer illiterate!  LOL We moved from Florence in 1990 to Salisbury, NC for 5 years and then to Spartanburg, SC where we've been the last 10 or so years.  I really miss the proximity to the beach!!!!  My oldest son lives in Myrtle Beach, my middle daughter is a social worker in NYC and my "baby" is getting ready for grad school in social work in Cola, SC in August.  Good luck on your decision!!  If you pick Dr. Strickland (or his partner, Dr. Givens) I don't think you'll be sorry!!!!

Hugs,
Connie

That is great, you are in inspiration to me.  My kids are all grown too.  I don't know the ins and outs of posting pics either, I may not have any, but I really do want to take some before and after to have for myself. Hey as long as you have a son on the beach that is good reason to head down there.  It is my favorite place to spend time.  I never get enogh of it.  I so leaning toward Dr. Stickland. I have not heard much about any other ones. My PCP said that 100 lbs for me to loose is a good number for me, even though at my last visit I was 290, up from 285 three   months before that.  We'll see.  Thnx for the encouragement.

Lexington Medical Center is fantastic.  They are very committed to serving the needs of the bariatric community.  I love Dr. Strickland and the whole office staff.  They are very friendly and never make you feel like a "bad person" for being where you are in your life. The hospital has an all new surgical wing and state of the art operating rooms.  The room you will stay in after surgery is HUGE.  It has plenty of room for your friends and family to visit and a day-bed type couch in the window that will turn into a bed for someone to stay the night with you. Ok, I am a little biased, I work at LMC....  But, even if I didn't it would be my hospital of choice.  Dr. S not only did my Lap RNY but I had to get my gallbladder removed 6 weeks ago and he did that surgery too. Good luck on your new journey!!! --Kelly
