Ok, people.  I want to be a runner.  AND GUESS WHAT!!?!? The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is in 9 weeks!  I have in my hands an 8 week 5K NOVICE runner training schedule AND a 5K WALKING training schedlue.  Just in time to get started to run this race!  I will share them with anyone who is interested. I have joined our company team (my friend Christy - who some of you met - is the team captain) and I will be participating in the timed 5K event.  DOES ANYONE WANT TO JOIN ME?  You do not have to run or be timed.  I thought it would be a fun thing for us to work towards and a HUGE WOW moment when we complete it. If you want to join my company team with me, here is the link:  https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/StartUp.aspx?TSID=159823 If you would like more details, or to start your own team or sign up alone, please see: http://www.komenupstatesc.org/ Here are the main details:

I think it would be a great way to get started on that exercise program we all say we need!  Kathy

Oh, that sounds great. I don't want to run but I would sign up to walk with someone. I don't want to walk by myself... Can I get an 5K walking training schedule online?  I will do this for my mom.... she has had breast cancer. She is my hero!! Pam

You can run in Celebration of someone's life.  I run in memory of my Aunt Mary, which is fitting considering that her youngest son is getting married that VERY day and I can't be there.  (Now I'm all teary eyed!) I got the walking schedule online.  Here it is: http://www.halhigdon.com/5K%20Training/5-Kwalk.htm The running one is available there too. My friend used this guys FULL marathon training program and he did well, so I figure he is trustworthy!

Okay Kathy, just b/c you want to swish walk with stud muffin does not mean we all have to, LOL.  I think that would be fun but I am going to have to start walking.  When are yall meeting again for the afternoon walks?  I will come to the Dr. Bour's meeting this Monday but have to work the rest of the weekend.  Hope you have a great day!!!!!

No way!!  I could never compete with SM in the swishy walking!  he has it down pat!  I have way too much testosterone in my blood to walk that way.  But I TRY.  I'm hoping one day he'll teach me how to properly walk in high heels.   We walk at Mauldin Middle School.  It is really easy to get to from Dr. Bour's.  It is pretty fun.  We get to socialize and feel like we are doing something good.

Count me in for the walk...I just don't think I can get motivated enough to train for a 5K....I'll need to learn the swishy walk ahead of time though!!!  I can walk in memory of the many patients I've had in hospice who've died from breast cancer...and in honor of those I still have who are fighting it daily! Since you have to sign up online and pay the registration fee there, I don't think you can take it back. But I bet you can look up your wife's company on the site and see if they already have ateam sign up.
