im new

hello, im new, and live in beaufort sc. im in the very beginning stages of the wls surgery, and very scared.  my doctor has reccommended the surgery for me, i need to schedule an appt with the dr. my dr. reccommended dr mcderrmot(sp) i am very overweight, but i am scared to death of the surgery, i want to do it, but i am scarred of the complications that i see can happen. we are fairly new to the beaufort area so i really dont know many people here, if someone would write back, it would make me so happy. i have seen so many beautiful people on this site and am so grateful to have found this site.  esther

Hi Esther, Welcome to the site,    I live in Boston but am planning a relocation soon to the SC area.    This is a such a wonderful message board and site to come on to.      I would suggest that you get to as many support group meetings as you possibly can so you can meet these wonderful folks.    They will provide you with such a wealth of information and support that is invaluable. Please come on here and ask questions and questions.   No question should not be asked!    I would be happy to answer you anything on here or on private message also.    I had my surgery in maay of 2005 and it was THE BEST decision I have ever made. Hi Ester and Welcome to the SC Board We just had an LCBBer move out of town that had her surgery in Beaufort by a Dr. McDevitt, is that the same guy.  She did wonderfully! I wish you luck on this journey.  And you are completely normal by being scared.  I was on an emotional roller coaster from the day I found out I was approved to the day of surgery.  But being on the site and listening helped calm me down alot.  We are hear for you so feel free to ask any and all question you would like, even if you think it is stupid.  Because I will bet you someone out there will not answer and have gone through it! hey Esther! Welcome to the board!!!  There are LOTS of chummy friends on here so dont get shy on us!!! I have not heard of the DR your talking about, but there is a way to search for his patients on this site and that will help you figure him out! Although I am not new to the WLS journey, I have yet to have the procedure. Strictly fear related! SO I TOTALLY understand where youre coming from. BUT the ladies... and men... on here have helped me stay focused on whats important... and thats being able to live a FULL life. SO.... I still have my eye on the prize...and its an incredible journey that we all would like to share with you! GOOD LUC****EP IN TOUCH!!!! CRYSTAL
