No shock to the system, but it is not covered.  Now, if I want cosmetic surgery, they do cover that, go figure! Thank you all again for your suggestions.

This is copy and pasted off the response letter; I have found that your BCBS policy does not cover surgery related to weight loss such as gastric bypass and or lap band procedures.  Therefore, you have no benefits for this service.

I have BCBS of Sc and they covered my surgery. When i first called them I asked them if they covered surgery for obesity. They said no. I called back after speaking to a friend and I asked them did they cover surgery for MORBID obesity and they said yes. Took me a week to be approved. No problems. Let me know what happens. Thank you, Jennifer, that gives me hope.  I talked with a lady at the dr's office where I want my surgery asking if they would handle this for me, and she gave me some ladies to talk to on the 14th when I go to the seminar, so hopefully something will happen.  It would be so nice to pay the co-pay, not the full dollar amount, but I will do what I have to do.
