Karen, what a great topic! And Hello! I work for a company that sells business telephone systems...anybody out there need a new one??? I am an all round jack of all trades around here. I answer the phones, but also do accounts receivable and payables, as well as prepare job packages for new installs. I absolutely love my job, however my dream was to always become a nurse. I always said if I didnt go back to school before I was 35, I never would and I will be 37 this year. My husband will be at top pay in his field with Bellsouth in less than 2 years and I may have the opportunity to work part time and go to school...but I dunno.. sitting in a college classroom at the age of 40 scares me to death, but then again, so does the thought of this surgery sometimes...which mine is scheduled for August 15....woohooo Welcome aboard/back, hello!! Hi, Karen!  I am "just" a housewife.  I was home w/kids for 20 years and now that they're grown and gone, I just take care of the house and hubby and my 3 cats (plus my "granddaughter" cat until August).  I know most people think my life is boring but I love it!!!!!  The only thing I don't like is that people don't respect it as a job.  Hugs, Connie

Hey! I work in PACU ( post anesthesia care unit), better known as the recovery room at St. Francis hospital Eastside (formally Womens and Family). I am a Patient Care Technician/phlebotomist. I transfered there from St. Francis downtown where I worked on the 8th floor for the past 6 years. Before that I taught electronics for 15 years, at a company in Simpsonville and left there and worked for 5 years for a German auto parts manufacturer. I use to travel  a good bit for both of those companies but don't get to travel now and I do miss that part.. My husband however, doesn't miss me being gone, so he is much happier now. He is a project estimator for a small company in Laurens county. I mentioned him because he comes to the meetings alot with me and you will probably get to  meet him sometime, too. I look forward to meeting you soon. Mary

I work at MUSC as a Nursing Unit Secretary. I'm on the 6th floor where all the Gastric Bypass patients come so it's cool! I was a Medical Assistant for years but decided to do the paperwork side of the medical field. I like it but it really is a change. Kay

I wanna play too!  Except my job is pretty boring.  I work for the Government.  Dept. of Defense, that is.  I am a contractor for a large company based in Ohio - my old company was bought out by this company last year.  Anyway, I work for SPAWAR in Charleston and I work on a Marine Corps project that is pretty interesting and is helping greatly in Iraq right now to keep our guys as safe as possible.  I mainly help out with scheduling, process improvement, and am also the Test Manager.  It's really boring stuff but the money is good and I get to surf the net a lot and get entertained by Chris, Stephanie, Kathy, and Melissa, among others.   I've always wanted to be a social worker though.  I started working on my Masters in Social Work about 5.5 years ago but quit after my sister died.  Couldn't concentrate!  But I've since thought about going back to school to get my law degree or an MBA or something so that I could help change the stupid DSS laws we have that put the kids back in their crazy parents care instead of somewhere where the kids can be safe.  I'll get off my soapbox for now!  Sorry! I am 7 months out and am down 71 lbs. so far.  I've got about 15-20 more lbs to go and I hope to be at goal by Sept. 1 but I've been losing so slow it may take a little longer than that. This site is great for support, laughter, and love.  We all try to take care of each other and try to get together as much as we can.  I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do! Susan

Right now I work for a Christian daycare. I work in the infant- 1 year room. This is the first time I have worked in 3 years due to being so morbidly obese it hurt to move. I am going to start taking classes this fall or after christmas break. I want to be an LPN to start then work my way up to RN. That's been what  I have always wanted to do. So we will see how it goes. God willing. I will be 5 months post surgery on July 7. I have lost 86 lbs.  That's 14 lbs away from 100 lb loss, 29 lbs away from onederland, 48 lbs away from Dr. Brynes goal, and 98 lbs away from my goal of 130. I don't get on much. I work 4 days a week. Do all my appointments on my day off and spend time with my family on weekends. I need to exercise more and drink more water. I have a great husband. This is my 3rd marriage. I have 4 biological kids. Two step with one being in heaven. And one little boy we are trying to adopt. And a granddaughter I am not allowed to see due to me being a Christian. My oldest daughter does not speak to me. My son never calls. My 17 year old daughter thinks she is grown. My 14 year old drives me crazy with her drama. My step son is killing me with his whining and my 4 year old is my pal. my granddaughter doesn't even know me anymore and is scared of me. But i have a chihuahua that I can accidently step on, sit on, lay on, forget to change her water in the morning, not feed her on time, not pay enough attention to her, let her sit at the door knocking for more than 5 minutes and she still runs around crazy, making crying noises when I come home. I should have had pets. my kids are killing me. lol...But I have the Lord and I pray for my children and I am happy. Nice to meet you and hope to see you one day. Yes I am whinning. I figure if my kids can do it so can I....Love Jennifer
