From the Wisodom of the emotional first aid kit
I shared with the board a couple weeks ago, that I was going to order the book The emotional first aid kit, for biatric patients.
Well I started reading it this morning. I have not even got to the post surgery chapters yet, but one of the pearls of wisdom struck me from a discussion we had at support group so I thought I would share the jest of it.
This quote, I think is profound for many of us, " Remember, you do not want to rely on willpower to keep you on track, but rather an environment designed for bariatric success. Create a SAFE ZONE by promising not to being tempting or trigger foods into your house, regardless of the excuse" (Boy can I come up with those excuses...it even gave a case study of how a man talked to his kids)
This is just a tidbit and I am finding the book helpful and wished I had it before surgery because it does give some tips on how to create a better environment for success that they recommended you put in place before surgery...and I have not even gotten to the post surgery chapters.

Thanks, for the tips. I know my EXCUSE is that everyone else in the house didn't have the surgery, so they are able to have the bad stuff. The thing I have just now started to grasp is, that they don't need the bad stuff either. I have been cooking healthier and now everyone will benifit from it. Instead of having gallons of ice cream in the house, for a treat every once in a while, we go out for a cone. Everyone else has lost a few pounds as well.
Thanks!
