Need help concerned sister

Just had a few questions. My brother has just been diagnosed with type II DM. His doctor told him to consider lap band surgery but the thing is that he has NO insurance. Can anyone in the area tell me about finance options that are available to people with no insurance? One local MD in the Myrtle Beach area told him that he would have to have all the money upfront that unless he paid cash or used a credit card their office wouldn't see him. I am so worried about his health and I am doing everything I can to help him. I'd really appreciate any input anyone could give us. He is willing to travel outside the state if he has too. Thanks for any help.

I don't know much help with that.  Look around on this site, I have noticed some advertisements for surgery financing.  Also, going outside of the country (i heard) is cheaper.  Check into that too.  Rachel

Any chance he could qualify for Medicaid via being disabled?  Just a thought.  I don't know a lot about financing but I do know it is a lot cheaper in Mexico....some of the people on this site know that info, so hopefully they will respond. Good Luck!
