Carbonated Drinks

Can we have carbonated drinks?  I have heard from some people that it will stretch our pouches.  That sounds odd to me.  If that were the case, wouldn't the normal stomach stretch too?  And if so, mine would be the size of a basketball before I had surgery since I drank them all the time before.

Hi, I was told that we could have some after we reach goal and after 6 months. The dietian said now we could open a can of 7-up and let it sit in the fridge and get flat.  I think my stomach would probably be as big as a house if that were true, LOL.

Those dang carbonated drinks (soda's), was my drug of choice before surgery.  I have tried several times, and I can't stomach it now.  Diet or not, it just doesn't sit right with me.  I am glad.  I have come too far in a short amount of time to mess myself up now.  Dr. Byrne told us it would strech our pouch out, and I don't want to do anything to mess this up.

I havent had surg yet, but Dr. B said the pouch is just a muscular tube so the gases in carbinated drinks cause it to strectch a little... and after you stretch it alittle with just drinks... you can eat more... and then ya do...
