Ok the time is getting close, I leave Sunday to get the grooming truck.  But I am having the most terrible time trying to determine what to charge people.  So I am turning to my friends that get their dogs groomed for help .  If you would not mind, and I completely understand if you do not want to, can you tell me what you pay to have your dogs groomed.  Also whether it is a salon or mobile, what type of dog, and what you have done?  If  you do not want to post it on the board please PM me or email me at [email protected]. I am not sure if this is appropriate so if I offend anyone, let me say I am sorry up front.  It is not my intention. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jennifer.  Oh that would have been awesome if you guys could have picked it up for me.  And so sweet as well.  Thanks.  I am still planning on stopping in your area on the way back to Charleston on Sunday.  So hopefully I will get to see you. Thanks for the info.

My dog maggie weighs about 18 pounds.  She is a small havanese/ terrier mix.  When we get a full groom plus "the works" at Petsmart, it is about $50.  This is wash, cut, dry, trim nails, clean ears, brush teeth and YES, express the anal gland.  Plus some conditioning stuff for her coat and fancy spray deodorant. Just the bath stuff is around $30. Now, I think the mobile grooming would probably cost more because of the convenience.  I would not know becasue whenever I have tried to call a mobile grooming service, they are booked WAY in advance. I also think you charge more the bigger the dog is, etc. PLUS, all those fancy breeds, (poodles, maltese, etc) with owners who neglect them can sometimes have HORRIBLE MATs and stuff.  You would charge more for that too I think. I'm so excited for you!  Believe it or not, I actually looked into doing this at one time.  I LOVE going on line and looking at the before and after pictures from groomers who volunteer at getting dogs ready for rescue

Thanks for the help Kathy!  I will have to show you some of my before and after photos.  I heard from the people in Knoxville and it should take a couple of hours or less to show me how to work the truck on Sunday.  I am arriving at 1044a so I am hoping to be on the road home by 2p. Do you guys still want to met up and visit for a while?  If not that is cool.  No problem  Just let me know and how to get there. Thanks again!

we take our dogs to a local groomer. They go every week so she only charges $20 a dog. But she cuts us a deal because they have an appt every thursday!  When we had my grama's dog, a toy poodle, she charged us $40 for him... but she's right in St. George... for the city folks.... it costs more!

Hey Julie...good luck, it is almost here. I take Molly (my Boykin) to Pet Smart and they charge $50.00 for "the works".  I used to take her to a local groomer and they charged $35 but didn't do as good a job (never did the anal glands or the nails). Good Luck and keep me posted on when you are ready to take on Ms. Molly!

Hey, I have a ****er spanial and we keep him outside.  We bought him for the house but he loved the outside so much we had to leave him out.  So when we take him it is like $50-60 but I would pay more to have someone come here.  Best of luck and be careful on your trip.

Hey! I have a chocalate lab and I have been charged 25.00 at petsmart for bath, nails, ears, and anal gland.  I can pay another 25 to have his teeth brushed and "no shed" put on him.    I took him to a smaller groomer and she chanrged me 35.00 just for a bath and she didn't even clip his nails.  That ticked me off.
