Had a question for you guys out there....Dr Bour put me on Lexapro last week, I understand that is the norm? Anyway, did you guys take it.....how did you do on it....did/do you like it and do you still take it? I  havent really noticed a difference yet, but have not really ever been on anything except Paxil once for a very short time. Any info would be great! ~Melissa

Hi Melissa I LIKE IT!! I've never been diagnoised with anything my whole life. I thought I was fine but they wanted me on Lexapro---I thought why not. It took about 2-3 weeks but once it kicked in---I really like the new me. Less stressed, more easy going, don't angry as quickly, and I hope to continue to take it for a long time. I guess the thing is you don't see yourself too well-but other do. My wife has noticed a difference and so has my kids. I reccomend it Chris

The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.....John Bingham aka The Penguin

i don't take lexapro.  My anti-depressants are managed by my other doctors. However, I have anger issues (can you tell.) and I will say that I still get angry and feel like myself, I just don't go into a murderous rampage and I can let things go alot faster...for ME anyway. You will still be you, just more relaxed and you will be able to see things more clearly without the emotions getting inthe way.  This will especially be handy after surgery.  Your hormones will go haywire and you will have mood swings.  Without the lexapro, I'm afriad they would be much worse.

Hi Melissa, I have been taking Lexapro for almost 3 years. I was first put on Paxil and then the lesser of the evil, Paxil CR. I couldn't tolerate those. Everyone's systems are different. I have taken up to 30 mg. of Lexapro (which is the maximum). I have panic disorder and a really nasty bout of it. Lexapro helps me to be able to work through the panic attacks without losing it quite as much. It has been a blessing for me. Only side effects that I had were 1) profuse sweating for about a month and 2) went off of it on my own once when I thought I was better - NASTY reaction! Don't go off yourself ever! Good luck!

Hi Melissa, I think it is pretty standard that Dr. Bour puts his patients on Lexapro. My understanding is that it helps with the pre-surgery anxiety. After surgery I quit taking it (I hate taking medication!!) and when I told Katie she told me I needed to start taking it again because it would help me not want to binge. I guess to help us emotional eaters keep on an even keel. So with that said I am back on it again! Like you, I really don't feel any different but I wonder what I would feel like if I WASN'T on it! LOL!   Karen
