Liquid Diet

I have been on a liquid diet for about a month now and I'm starting to lose my mind.  I affaird I may faul.   I'm having a hell of a time getting any protein in, nothing agrees with my system.  I chock some down 'cause I know I must but it's no where near what I should have.  When I have to sit down with the family and eat dinner I would much rather not eat then eat the mush I'm supposed to eat.  And honestly that's the additude I have about eating anytime.  I can't take anymore cream soup, broth, or mash potatoes.  I actually feel as though I'm gagging myself to chock the food down.   I need to chew something! Another thing...is it just the fact that I'm still on a liquid diet or what but I have yet to feel full.  I'm worried I'm eating too much.  I don't eat more then a cup at a time but I eat very often. I know we are supposed to eat six meals a day, maybe that's what I'm doing, and maybe I'm just overly worried.  Well thanks for letting me vent.   Jamie

Trust me Jaime, you are not alone. I don't know anyone who 1) Didn't go crazy on the liquid diet part 2) Didn't know when they were full and 3) Got in all their protein and meals in everyday

The part that got me through is just thinking that this is the time for the biggest weight loss IF you do it by the book. And, tomorrow will come and pass and soon it will be over. Try to keep busy and that will take your mind off of food and the food/liquid you have to eat. The protein has to get in if you want to heal well and keep up your energy, ....more or less a "I just have to do it" thing. It will pass and you will find yourself thinking "I lost HOW MUCH??? Yipppeeeeeeee"

Its hard, and it sucks-but you just have to. Going off diet during the first few months could be really bad and set you up for disaster later. We've all been there and hated it-but we survived and you will too. Good luck!! Chris

Jamie,     I am so sorry that its so hard right now.  I remember that making things spicy helped me.  I would use taco seasoning with mashed black beans melted cheese and other stuff.   I would make frozen shakes with coffee and chocolate protein shake mix with some sweet and low and lots of ice.  That's about the only way I could do it for a while.  It had to be frozen or spicy.  And food does seem more like a job which I promise will be nice in the long run.    I know that it doesn't seem like it, but I promise that It will get better.  You will definately know if you feel full.  Just worry about fluids, then protein, then eventually it will all come together.     Good Luck.  Please ask whenever you need support.  It is hard in the first place, but even harder if you think your alone. Hey, I am just 5 weeks out and am having the very same problem.  The others gave great advice so I just want to add that eating ice helps me when I want to eat something.  I like Sonics or already crushed up ice.  Its not so bad on the teeth.  I don't get in all my food or protein.  Just take it one day at a time.  God Bless.

I am a patient of Dr. Byrne but we only had to do the puree diet for a month after surgery. I hope you dont have too much longer. However, at my 3rd week I started eating a tiny bit of regular food but just chewed it in my mouth till it was pureed. I have heard others doing this as well.

Good Luck.
