Taking the easy way out....
Well, duh.
Would you tell someone who had their appendix out that they took the easy way out, that they should have died a horrible painful death and infection from a burst appendix?
Would you tell someone who had their gallbladder removed that they took the easy way out, that they should have suffered for years with pain and sickness from gallstones until they died from infection and complications?
Would you tell someone who had heart surgery that they took the easy way out, that they should have died of a heart attack?
When you think about it logically, ANYONE who's had surgery for ANYTHING has taken the easy way out, choosing life over death.
Yup, I took the easy way out. And I'd do it again.
Wouldn't you? Lisa
The easy way out ? Hmm.. where were these people when I sat and cried because I couldn't stop myself from having "one more bowl of icecream" ... didn't feel like an easy way to me..Food is my addiction.. it always will be.. with or without this surgery..it will always be an addiction....food was the most stable ...... loving and long lasting relationship I've ever had. I had to break up with.. divorce..walk away from my bestfriend... And where where these people when, 2 days after my surgery.. the head hunger was so bad that I seriously thought I was going to lose my mind.. It didn't feel like the easy way out when I screamed into my pillow...
It certainly doesn't feel like the easy way out when I take a bit of bread.. and with in second, I'm puking it up.. and it doesnt feel like the easy way out to me when I go out to dinner with my husband and I can't order what I want and eat what I want.. being able to order it .. and then eat it are two different things... And it's so easy for someone to tell you.. " well if you watch what you eat and stick to a diet you wouldn't have to go to such an extreme as surgery" .... But you know what... if you have a drinking problem.. you can get help.. and you avoid alcohol all together.. do alcoholics get the same lecture when they fall off the wagon?? We can live without a drink... or someone who's addicted to drugs.. you get help.. and you avoid the drugs.. you avoid the things that TRIGGER you to want to take that drink or that pill...it's NOT that easy when you have to eat to survive.. when food is something you HAVE TO DO and CONSUME for the rest of your life.. unlike alcohol or drugs.. Seems to me, the people who say we are taking the easy way out... are themselves taking the easy way out.. How about making a commitment and taking the tough road with support and friendship. If they think it's that easy.. .let them spend time with you during and after the surgery.. let them see first hand how this is a life long commitment to YOURSELF. You can't go in, get the surgery and go about your business the next day.. and anyone who thinks thats the case... hasn't done any research...
I rock..!!!
I bit my tongue and just listened and did not say anything.
This was a person who has stood beside me with a lot om my life difficulties. However, I could care less to those who are in the public or that I come in general contact with. However, I don't know how to respond to those that love and support us in so many ways that under handed voice these opionions.
