Curious to see how...
WLS has changed your families. My biggest "wow" is not one of my own but when my 7 year old asked me why I never put applesauce in her lunch for school! 5 months ago (pre-op) my child wouldn't have eaten a fruit or veg no matter what the threat! Both of my kids also prefer sugar free stuff over the reg stuff now. I bought reg fudgcicles as a treat and they wouldn't eat them! So how are things different at YOUR house??
My teenager complains some over the lack of junk and the fact that I don't stop at every fast food place that I drive by. But he does like the healthier stuff that I buy and cook now.
My five year old is always asking not if stuff is sugar free. If he has something that he wants to share with me, he asks "is it sugarfree." Its funny how the adapt so easily. My husband is eating A LOT healthier. I think it amazes him that I cook so much more now.
They would probably tell you that the only negative is that I never have beef anymore. My pouch doesn't like it at all. I think that Don misses the occassional steak or burger on the grill. But he does love the different stuff that i cook that I never would have before. Grilled fish is the best example.
Good Post Sundi!!!

Same thing here. My family is always having sugar-free treats. i used to buy them their own full fat, full sugar ones, but something about making something forbidden makes it desirable. So they would end up eating all mine! And I usually have to hide my protien bars, soy chips, etc from them too or else I don't get any!
Same thing with the cooking. On the occasion that I try to feed my daughter mac-n-cheese,rice or potatoes, she won't eat it!!
Our dinners usually consist of some sort of meat and a vegetable now. Nothing else. My hubby has always preferred this way of eating, so its ok.
I'm with you all too - my 16 year old says I never buy "good food" anymore, but my 9 year old says (when he can find my protein bars that I hide) that I get all the "tasty stuff". DH has lost almost 20lbs and he wasn't overweight to begin with!! He loves when he smells that spices that I'm using now - before everything was quick and fried. and I guess pretty much tasteless because everyone loaded everything with ketchup and salt. Fun to watch my son trying different fruits and vegetables too, he heads right to the produce dept. and wants to know what different things are, like kiwi - we never had lots of fresh fruit in the house before. I figure the 16 year old will come around or he'll get a job and buy his own food.

What a great post.
Since my surgery, Trent has lost about 35 pounds, the boys love my protein bars and are loosing fat as well. They beg me to take them to the gym with me (so much for my time, they even crash that too ).
We are all so active now. The boys have always like sports, but my youngest one, having been over weight at one time, says he will never let himself be that way again.
We ALL drink Crystal lite and water. I don't bake cakes and pies and bring Little Debbie cakes home anymore.
We eat vegs and chicken all the time. AND WE LIKE IT.
Me, I like going to the tanning bed and the lid being able to close or not resting on my belly. I like the fact that everytime I plan to go somewhere, I have to go through my entire closet and pull out things that don't fit, just to find something that might.
I can sweep, mop and vacuume. I can cut the grass, weed the garden and spread mulch. I walked the Cooper River Bridge. I can shop at the mall or the grocery store and I can cross my leggs. With all of that, that puts me in a good mood, so that makes life easier around the house.
You know...when mama ain't happy, no body's happy.
