Hiccups?! Help !

Joel is having hiccups really bad and very frequent...any advice?! Thanks, Deidre

hi, Is joel able to drink water? If so, I used to have this trick where I could put a knife in a glass, and drink water, while blocking my ears, holding my nose and drinking the water.... and the hiccups would go away. of course you usually need someone to hold the glass for you, unless you are an occtopus.... you have to drink about 6 oz down relatively fast. some folks have a hard time doing this after the surgery. another method is to have someone scare you. otherwise if they continue you might want to go to your local ER, and they can help if it is causing pain. i think they can give you something for it medicaly. i have heard that . i remember early out how painful it could be. hope this may help. sorry he is hurting. Hi Deidre What u might want to try is to take small sips swallow sip swallow sip swallow for awhile. I find that by swallowing several times during drinking helps me. Good luck. I know it's tough to take big gulps but try it with small sips continously. Ana
