Swiped
Swiped from another board but I thought they were great questions.
For everyone who already had WLS
What is the one thing you know now that you wish you knew prior to surgery?
or
What one piece of advice was given to you before surgery that you couldn't have lived without?
This ought to make for some interesting reading.

I wish I would have known how good I would feel after losing weight before surgery and I would have done it a long time ago.
The advice I could not live without would have to be get support. And it has proven to be the best advice I have gotten. With the support I get I am doing great. I eat my protein first. Get in my water and exercise. When I am down I have the support I have found on this forum. And that is the best thing in the world. I love all you guys. I am glad I took the advice.
I am 3 months 2 days out and after weighing this morning have lost 69 lbs. I was at 314 surgery day and now I am 245. And I could have never done it without great firiends.

Tammy:
I know exactly how you feel about the drink - I was so thirsty I wanted to eat my lips. Don't second guess your decision - the first few weeks are hard - the drain tube sucks, getting your protein and liquids in is hard, but this too shall pass. Just keep trying. I did the jello mixed with Unjury (not too bad). Just know that your body needs this and that it will get better. Stay hydraded, keep sipping the protein, stay on these boards for support, attend support group meetings. Remember, you did this to get healthy and everyday things get better.

"What is the one thing you know now that you wish you knew prior to surgery?"
I wish I knew ahead of time how truly VILE I'd find all those liquid sources of protein. I'd have saved at least $100 by not purchasing all of those Isopure bottles alone.
"What one piece of advice was given to you before surgery that you couldn't have lived without?"
Make sure you have a Support System. Online, in person, Doctor-endorsed or not ... support and friendship from others who have gone through what I'm going through is VITAL.
What is the one thing you know now that you wish you knew prior to surgery?
That my surgery was only covered 50% by my insurance company. I got a letter saying I waas approved and covered. Dr Bour got a letter staing the same. I looked in my "Plan Specifics" which basically said if you do this, you are covered. I called-yes this has been approved and is covered. Well-now I fnd it was covered-but only by 50%!!! UGHHHHH I feel like an idiot. I still would have done it, but $16K is alot of $$
I'm on my second appeal now for better payment from Aetna
AND
I wish I would have known how many BEAUTIFUL women are on this board-I would have had my surgery sooner!!
What one piece of advice was given to you before surgery that you couldn't have lived without?
Its the one no one bothered to say---you should check out how much coverage you have before surgery-ask your insurance company HOW MUCH is covered
And if anyone has any advice for me about this---please let me know
Chris
