Well..... I WAS having a bad day and on the verge of tears.....
hi Chris,
she was an Italian Greyhound. She lived until the last day of summer 2006. She hated the winter and the cold... She was 16 and 1/2, so I was blessed to have her so long. She was my angel. I looooooved her so much. I used to call her my precious gift from god. She could not stand her brother and she was very mean to him... lololol. (I know that I shouldnt laugh at that, but he was 75 pounds and terrified of her, and she was like 12 pounds..)
hugs
J.
What a SMALL SMALL world....we do-or rather did-greyhound rescue up until a few years ago when we kept one too many dogs and have no more room
We have 2 ex-racers, Jack and Kelsey...and 2 Italian Greyhounds Bob (yes Bob the dog) and Mouse. All 4 are rescues. Jack was found roaming the streets of Daytona Beach with a broken leg, and is soooo skiddish nobody wanted to adopt him. Kelsey had a gum disease so bad we had to get ALL her teeth pulled, after that-nobody wanted to adopt her
Bob was found on the Furman University campus dumped by a student I'm guessing-and found his way to our home. Mouse was dumped at the local mall and the local vet called us to take her in to get adopted, and she just stayed. She is extremely skiddish of men, but not women
You wonder what they went thru, poor dogs
Small world. Sorry to hear about your angel. They are members of the family
Chris
You have grey's I am so jealous!!!!!! I want one so bad!!!!! I have a sighthound/lab mix. You did greyhound rescue. I so want to do that. It is in the plan for my Puppy Empire. I wish I could get some to foster, but I already have 5 dogs!!! Yea I am nuts!
Ok I know by this post, and others today... YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON! I would have adopted those babies. Who cares what ailments they come with! I am a firm believer that you do not pick your dogs, your dogs pick you! And with time, most behavior problems can be overcome. All of ours are rescues. My sighthound mix was about to be taken to the SPCA and I took her, my lab was actually a client of mine's who could not handle her. They just could not get it through their heads that she was a puppy and was acting like one, especially a black lab puppy. But I fell in love with her the first moment I saw her. So when they decided to get rid of her, I was first on the list. She was 16 mths at the time and is now almost 6 and better behaved than ever. She took alot of work! Our standard poodle was a rescue. Her owners did not want her because she jumped up on them.
Our Golden Retriever, the oldest of the bunch at 15, was given back to my parents by my brother who did not realize that a golden retreiver puppy and apartment dont mix. And last but not least, our schnauzer mix, bit my god-daughter once to often. She was too old to place in another home and too young to just put down. She lives with us now. Sorry if I am rambling, dogs are my passion and my life. They are the only thing that makes me smile these days. Thanks for letting me ramble. If you want to see pictures of Lexus (sighthound/lab mix) and Shelby (black lab) Check out my profile. I am working on some good pictures of the rest.

Hi Julie
I totally understand about dogs being part of the family. We have friends who have traded more dogs in and took more out then anyone I know. We get the dogs we got and we work with them. It doesn't matter about their ailments. I'm sorry that is the only thing that makes you smile these days. I hope your days get better
We have 4 dogs now, with the oldest being MOuse the IG. She's probably about 15 yrs old, is blind in one eye and pee's everywhere-but we love her and would not give her up. If the pain in her eye gets really bad, we might have a decision to make for her sake-hopefully it won't come to that
Nice pictures in your profile. Dogs are great.
Smile-you must be such a kind hearted person if you took in so many dogs.
Chris
Some of the dogs we have had over the years have come in for us to find homes for them, well, every one has stayed! So I guess they found homes. We have never had less than 4 and as many as 7!
Thanks for the kind words. I am counting the time til I can go home and see my girls. I have been house-sitting since Friday and have not had much time with them. I love dogs. I love my clients dogs, even the 3 Chesapeake Bay Retriever pups,
dogs, that I had this weekend but nothing compares to my girls.
We had a dog that peed everywhere. You know they do make doggie diapers! We finally put him down when he was 18 and not because of the peeing everywhere either. It was his time.
I could talk dogs and animals all day long! Sorry

Julie, We will have many smiles and laughs when I get there next month!!!! I cant wait!!!
How was jury duty?! Did you get called?
What's going on???
Keep thinking about Poogan's Porch. (is that the right name/place?) And sitting back and sharing doggie stories and laughing. (and I might have a nice cold glass of wine!!!)
hugs!!
Yes it is Poogan's Porch. I did get called but we never made it to the Jury selection process so they said to call last night. I did and the message said that if you were not serving on a jury then to call back tonight after 6. So I have to call back every night to see if I have to go in. But that first day was terrible and did not do get things for my mood.
There will be lots of puppy stories and good times. And a cold glass of wine will be nice.
Julie
