Hi all, I had surgery Tuesday 4/24. I can not find a protein supplement that I can stomach. I feel like I am getting dehydrated. I got the Unjury, Plain & Chicken broth, what can I do with these? I also got the raspberry tea--nasty. The jell-o is grimy. I got the isopure and the extreme pure protein drinks. I forgot that the red dye doesn't sit well with me. So now I have all this protein stuff I can't do anything with. As you all know its not cheap. Thanks for any help in advance. Tammy P.

Tammy...it is an adjustment in the beginning for sure..but remember that little one ounce portion is all you need to focus on at a time..we can do all things if we have to...just try little and I mean little tastes at a time. I know my pouch was soooo sensitive to anything the first 2 weeks and I got dehydrated..believe me a PIC line going through your arm into your heart is a lot harder to deal with than trying be it every so slowly to take little sips of protein. I know that with me the soft creamy things once you get to that stage were better although I could still not do much. Very thin cream of wheat..was a saving grace for me. You can add protein to that also...but it needs to be cooled down before adding the protein unless it is protein that can be added to hot foods. The main thing is to drink....do you prefer hot or cold? I buy walmart's generic of Crystal Light Apple flavor and heat it in mug in microwave (I mix the pitcher first) and it tastes like hot apple cider...yum...or you can drink it like apple juice cold...I know unflavored protein can be mixed in crystal light also or even in your puddings. I will be praying for you to not give up trying....don't look at the full amount just focus on sip at a time. Tammy just hang in there it does get better.... In His love, Joan M

Tammy, I had to be readmitted only 2 days after I had my surgery. I was so dehydrated. When Dr. Brynes released me the second time he told me to not worry so much about the protein for a few weeks and to instead concentrate on keeping myself hydrated. That is very important. If you feel you are getting dehydrated you should really call your dr. It is dangerous. I hope you all the best and let me know if you need anything. love Jennifer

Hang in there Tammy, I promise it will get better. In the meantime, sip, sip, sip. Always have water (even w/Crystal light) with you so you don't get dehydrated. Go to bariatriceating.com and order some protein samples. That way you can try things out before spending all of your money. Susann

Hi Tammy, I am 5 weeks out. I ate thin cream of wheat, thinned down with alittle skim milk, still do. I use the strained baby foods meats, I know they taste bland, but if you warm alittle of the chicken broth and thin it down with that it helps the taste alot! And it has some protein in it, like 8 grams for the 2 oz jar. I have been doing some baby cereal too adding a small amount of skim milk and protein powder to it. Blue Bunny makes a low carb yogurt smoothie too that is good, I think it has like 8 protein. I been doing some of them. The Carnation Instant Breakfast / sugar free are pretty good too. I use the Isopure vanilla and add alittle flavoring to it, and alittle peach or banana baby food helped the taste of the shakes too. I used to love jello before my surgery, not no more!.... It will get easier, just keep taking little tiny sips. I carry something with me to drink everywhere I go!! Always sipping on water, diet green tea, or crystal light! Good luck, Lucinda
