Yesterday, I went to my internal medicine doctor due to having been dizzy and I had begun to pass out. She ruled out my heart. However, my Blood Pressure was 90/48 sitting down. Thus, my blood pressure has been dropping making me tired and dizzy. I had thought that it was my change in my antidepressent medication and even confessed my energy level has been low that I have not exercised in two weeks. So she told me to go home and eat lots of salt and things with potassium (my blood work from early March showed that I had potassium at the low end of normal). She recommended me to eat carbs (the dreaded thing I try to stay so away from) because they are high in potassium. I tried calling the nutritionest but the office already had closed, to get their ideas. She put me out of wor****il next Wed. :-( I will call the nutrition on Monday, but any ideas for the weekend?? I hope to be at support group Monday night, but they don't want me driving since I could be a road hazard. I wish I could come out with you guys tonight, but they want me in a safe environment in case I pass out...and I really think since I cant work that means I should not be out. Have fun and glad at least one of you guys will be narcotic free!! Laurie

YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE THEM CHECK YOUR THIAMIN/B-1 LEVELS ... IT'S REAL COMMON FOR GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENTS TO HAVE LOW LEVELS & THIS LEADS TO BEING DIZZY &/OR PASSING OUT ... MS BRITTY HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. MY NUTRITIONIST WAS ALSO JUST TALKING ABOUT LOW FLUIDS/DEHYDRATION ... THAT SHE'S SEEING SEVERAL PATIENTS WHO ARE GETTING DIZZY OR PASSING OUT & IT IS JUST THAT THEY SIMPLY ARE NOT DRINKING ENOUGH FLUIDS. 64 - 100 OUNCES A DAY! WHEN SHE SAYS TO EAT CARBS, DOES SHE MEAN COMPLEX CARBS OR SIMPLE CARBS? COMPLEX CARBS ARE GOOD CARBS LIKE COLORFUL VEGES WHICH HAVE GOOD FIBER & NUTRIENTS & WE NEED THESE IN OUR DIETS ... SIMPLE CARBS ARE SUGARS & STARCHES LIKE YOUR WHITE CARBS THAT ARE A PROBLEM FOR GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENTS TO EAT. TAKE CARE! GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICk
