Tell her what Kathy said. The risks of being obese are like having a breast cancer tumor that has gone un-diagnosed for 5 months!!! While you are so happy she is concerned, that you have done your research, and that they unfortunately like to broadcast and publicize the bad more than the good. Give her your doc's stats instead. Dr Byrne's stats are better than the national averages. He has about 2 complications in about 400 people, I think.....other Byrne's patients help out here. I did great, most of us do. Sometimes the complications are not really from the surgeon's skills, but more from bad aftercare from the patient. The patient won't do what they are supposed to do, so it causes their bodies to do bad things. Drink all your fluids so you won't get kidney stones like I did!! That is about it. You will be fine, don't start freaking now. God told me right before surgery that "You can feed your fear, or you can feed your faith!! Faith cannot be around when fear is present, they cannot coexist. FEED YOUR FAITH" Love you, God Bless, Deb
