OK Ladies: I need some advice. This board has kept my sanity and given me plenty of laughs that last couple of months, but, I need to know your secret . How do any of you get any work done? I'm unemployed right now so I sit here at home in my office just laughing out loud, and crying sometimes at some of the posts. I can't imagine doing it in my cubicle or office. People would be looking at me funny. I'm starting to interview to go back to work - so I need to know. How do I keep my composure. I don't want to wait until after work to check in, just need to know how to keep my hyena laugh from bothering everyone else or from them thinking I'm . (All secrets to be kept in strictest confidence ). I have an idea Maybe I'll just take the summer off and worry about it in September. Thanks, Colleen

1. Place your monitor to where NOONE can walk up behind you and see it. 2. Always have a really complicated looking spreadsheet in the background so that if someone does walk up, you can quickly click on it and the IE window gets hidden. 3. If you are constantly typing, people think you are busy. 4. If someone walks up to you to socialize, act annoyed and rushed to finish something. This will make them go away. 5. Never EVER laugh outloud or smile at a post. You must keep this face---> and perhaps the most important... 6. Don't get behind in your REAL work, because then they get suspicious... Kathy

I've taken notes (while laughing outloud) (will have to work on #5). #4 I can handle - (that Yankee thing in me, I guess). Colleen

Kathy and Jen have it down pat. I always type very quickly and LOUDLY. It keeps people away because they think you are mad about something. Mary

The way I'm positioned in my cubie there is no way to hide my monitor, so my coworkers see y'alls faces evertime i'm reading a post. I try to do like kathy said, keep something important pulled up so i can just click off of OH, but i have one attorney across the hall who likes to slip up on me and say "Busted" and it is usually when i'm checking my bank balance or reading a post. He is just kidding, but it gets on my nerves

OMG @ Kathy!! You're a riot!!! I have my monitor positioned so whomever walks into my office won't see it at first.. but for some reason.. noone comes in and stands at the FRONT of my desk.. they all come around and stand next to me to ask me something .. it's annoying!! Not to mention .. that my office is in the middle.. and I have windows on either side of me.. that look into the other peoples offices.. I have the blinds closed on the HR persons side.. told her the glare from her outside window was bouncing off my monitor.. and the other office.. My boss.. well I've positioned the blinds in a half closed positon.. so she can see ME... but she can't really see anything. But I do tend to laugh a lot when reading posts... and I still sit and flip through the before and after pictures... I just keep papers strewn all over my desk.. to LOOK like I'm productive!!!

Kathy has the right idea, and I would use all of them if I had internet access at work. Corporate has everything blocked on our system, so I don't get to check up on you guys until I get home, or unless I'm off work But sometimes my son wants to know what is so funny.. Hugs, Dianne
