What did we miss at Dr. Bours last night

Can anyone fill us slackers in on what Lacey talked about. She told me it was just going to be about the Walk for Obesity so that is why I did not come. Has anyone heard from or seen Ken? Patti

Hey Patti! First of all, you missed ME! (I missed you more, though.) Lacey did talk a lot about the Walk From Obesity, whcih will be held on September 15. It sounds like a really fun event, with super door prizes, t-shirts, free snacks and water, and even (possibly) a live band. She was begging for volunteers to help with every aspect of it, and didn't get a lot of response from the small group that was there last night. The Walk will combine with the Spartanburg folks, as well as the group from Self Memorial in Greenwood. Dr. Bour's group didn't participate last year, due to something-or-other, but Lacey is really looking to make this year's walk a BIG success and lots of fun for everybody. I am already disappointed because we will be leaving for our family week at the beach on 9/15. I would love to take part in all the festivities here, too. She announced the clothing exchange, and said she would e-mail us when the actual date is decided. She asked us to go ahead and go through our closets to prepare for it ... all clothing must be clean, and NO undergarments will be accepted. She announced that Dr. Russell's last day in the office is tomorrow ... he'll be seeing new foks on Mondays, until the new psychologist (a woman, I can't remember her name) takes over next month. She said Dr. Russell would be available for phone consults when needed. And then she told us about all the ideas she was having for how to "pump up the volume" for our support groups. The Bariatric Center Of Excellence "rulebook" mandates that at least half of every support group be led by a staff member, but she said she'd like to see other speakers come in, as well ... and for us to have "talk time" at every meeting, too. She's also trying to work out a deal with Millie Lewis salon for a twice-yearly 8-week program for the ladies ... Dr. Bour's office would cover some of the cost, from what I understand, and she's in negotiations to get the cost down as low as it can be ... there would be hair and makeup "makeoevers", and at the end of the 8 weeks, we'd take part in a fashion show, with our "before" shot shown before we strut our stuff in cute clothes. Sounds like fun ... right now it's probably too expensive for most of us, but as I said, Lacey is trying to work out a lower price. The first Monday of every month will continue to be a Cooking Class, starting at 6 PM. The other meeting will be run by the new Psychologist, Nutrition, Katie, and the occasional appearance of our hero, Dr. Bour. Anyway, she's trying to change things up! She did ask that, if anyone has ideas for the group sessions, to PLEASE e-mail her and let her know. She also asked for our "stories", with or without pictures, so she could put them onto Dr. Bour's website. Those can go to her in e-mail, too. I was thinking about Ken last night ... he wasn't there. I hope he's OK. Have a great day! Love ya, Dawn
