MANY FIND THE PUREED STAGE HARD BUT IF YOU JUST THINK ABOUT IT AS ONLY 30 DAYS OF INTENSE HEALING, MAYBE THAT WILL HELP YOU GET THROUGH IT ... WE CAN DO ANYTHING FOR 30 DAYS! I ACTUALLY WENT BACK ON THE PUREED STAGE AT ABOUT A MONTH & A HALF POST OP AS MY POUCH WAS REAL FINICKY & I STAYED ON PUREED FOODS FOR AN ADDITIONAL 3 WEEKS MORE THAN THE FIRST MONTH. YOU DON'T WANT TO STRESS YOUR POUCH (trying to digest heavy foods) OR YOUR STAPLE LINE (putting pressure on that cut) WITH HEAVY FOODS LIKE STEAK, BURGERS & CHOPS ... YOUR POUCH WAS COMPLETELY SEVERED ON ONE SIDE & YOUR INTESTINES HAVE BEEN SEVERED, REROUTED & THEN REATTACHED. YOU WANT TO KEEP AS MUCH STRESS OFF THOSE STAPLE LINES AS POSSIBLE SO THEY CAN HEAL. IT TAKES 3 MONTHS FOR YOUR INSIDES TO COMPLETELY HEAL, BUT OF COURSE, THE FIRST MONTH IS THE MOST CRITICAL. ISOPURE, PROTEIN SHAKES (I WOULDN'T EAT PROTEIN BARS YET) & HOOD CARB COUNTDOWN MILK BEVERAGE IS PERFECT FOR MAKING SHAKES. AS FOR FOOD, ANYTHING SOFT LIKE BEANS, CHEESE, PEANUT BUTTER, FISH, SEAFOOD, GROUND BEEF LIKE IN A CHILI OR MEXICAN BASE (CHEWED VERY, VERY WELL). CREAMED SOUPS ARE WONDERFUL & YOU CAN ADD BEANS, CHEESE, SEAFOOD, A LITTLE GROUND BEEF ... OR, EVEN PROTEIN POWDER (non-flavored like ANY WHEY). EGGS ARE A 50/50 CHANCE BUT JUST WAIT A COUPLE MONTHS WHEN YOU ARE MORE HEALED & YOU WILL PROBABLY BE ABLE TO EAT THEM AGAIN. CHICKEN, STEAK & PORK ARE THE HARDEST TO DIGEST SO THEY ARE THE LAST THINGS YOU SHOULD TRY & WAIT AT LEAST THROUGH YOUR ENTIRE FIRST MONTH, IF NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS BEFORE EATING THEM. POT PIE IS GOOD IF YOU STAY AWAY FROM THE CRUST (white carbs) BECAUSE THE MEAT & VEGES ARE SO SMALL, SOFT & IN A GRAVY. I HAVE A TON OF INFO ABOUT FOOD, FLUIDS, PROTEIN ... JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ...
