Help Me
I'm having a little melt down here.
My stepson is getting married this Sunday. His mother is not involved with him so I am "the mother of the groom".
I am way too young (not really) and scatter brained to do something as serious as a rehearsal party. I thought I had it all planned out, Now I'm freaking out about it.
We're going to cocoa Beach Florida, staying at a really cool hotel that has a tropical garden and tiki hut where we're doing the rehearsal dinner. Very small wedding so only 14 at the party. I'm doing Frogmore Stew, cuban bread, beer, wine, soft drinks, water.
Better now. I just had to vent. You guys are the best

Come crawl in, we'll put you right next to the tiki torches. We should have you as the photographer. We are giving our oldest the digital for the rehearsal party pictures.
Seriously, this is a great place to stay. maybe lcbb and friends should field trip to Florida. the rooms have two seperate bedrooms, a fullsized kitchen and a living room with sleeper sofa. You walk out of the room and there is this tropical garden that the hotel owners are so proud of. They have walkways throught the garden that lead to the pool. Its called Wakulla Suites in Cocoa Beach Fl if you want to google it

Its sort of a lowcountry thing. This is the best way to make it, my Dad does it like this every fourth of July and we have a big party.
1. Go to Shem Creek July 3rd and buy some shrimp from Mr.Bubba Rector's boat, the Lady Luck
2. Keep the shrimp covered with ice, do not put in the refrig.
3. Go to the farm in Walterboro and get up early the morning of July 4, pick lots of Silver Queen Corn
4. Around 4 in the afternoon start a pot simmering of spicy sausage and put in a Vidalia onion or two
5. When your getting hungry put the shucked corn in the pot.
6. When you can smell the corn, throw the shrimp in
7. When the shrimp turns pink, drain the pot, dump it all on a picnic table covered with newspaper and dig in.
Unfortunately, I can never compete with Dad. I'll be doing a version of this with frozen shrimp caught last summer and frozen corn. its a unique dish and full of protein so I can justify eating it. I never bother with the corn, the shrimp is so good, it gets a lot of spicy flavor from the sausage
Obviously, I'm still obsessed with food.
