I feel like I'm going to die

Tanya, I remember my first week was the worst. Everyone is right, staying hydrated is the most important thing. I ate very little the first week (or month for that fact). Just take VERY SMALL sips. Sounds like "hot" stays better for you so get some chicken broth or some "cream of" soup and see if that will stay down. Hang in, it only gets better from here! If you can't keep ANYTHING down for more than a day, you should call Dr. B..... Susann

Hi Tanya I hope that today finds you a little bit better. What everyone said is true. The most important thing in the beginning is sip...sip...sip. Try different things. I had a hard time finding anything that I liked at first. The easiest thing ti get down was watered down SF lemonade. I could handle the tart better than the sweet. But everything was so strong that I watered everything down. YOu can do this. We all struggled in the beginning. It will get better!!!!!!! We are here for you!!! Melissa

I forgot to say I lived off of sugar free popsicles. They kept me hydrated. I still eat them on occasion when I don't feel like eating. Hope you feel better today. Jennifer

Hey Tanya, You've got some really good advice here already, so I just wanted you to know I've been thinking about you. When I had my WLS, many told me this: "Every day will be a little bit better than the one before." You count on that, and hang in there! Give yourself some time to feel crummy ... you've had MAJOR surgery. Concentrate on following Dr's orders, and REST. You'll be feeling better soon! Dawn

Tanya, the Second most important thing you can do right now is REST. Do not vacuum, sweep, put dishes away, do laundry, or pick up toys. Walk as much as you can and then sleep and rest. Of course, like everyone said, the MOST important thing right now is hydration. Please, Please, Please do not overdo anything. Your body needs to heal and it can only do that when it is at rest. Good luck and I'll pray for your speedy recovery. Susan

I had problems drinking, I got a bag of ice chips from Sonic ( it cost .99) the small kind like you got in the hosital. It really helped me get down the liquids. No matter how hard I tried I could not do a small enough drink that didn't hurt. Judy

Thanks Judy I'm actually doing pretty good now. I'm able to keep popsicles down so I'm eating them like crazy. LOL I do sip on water, crystal lite or juice all day now too. But the majority of my fluids are coming from popsicles.
