I think I may just go get an application from Platinum Plus during my lunch hour...

Kathy:
Take a deep breath and step away from the boxcutter.
I know exactly how you feel. There is no loyalty from management!!! They expect you to be loyal to the company but they take every opportunity to take advantage of you if you show any capability to taking on new responsibilities. I only took 2 weeks off after surgery cuz no one in my office would do my work while I was gone. I even went back on Sunday to try to "catch-up" before I actually returned to work. I was only back 2 weeks when I just couldn't stand it anymore, got my Yankee Irish up, had an argument with a co-worker and quit and I was with the company for 5 years. Thank goodness my DH is very supportive. He's another one that recommends going back to school, but I agree that I thought experience and loyalty counted for something. Boy, was I wrong. Now I sit waiting to see if my appeal to unemployment is approved. Hope to find out today. I'm not busy if you want me to come "cut" someone - I'm available.

I took 3 weeks off and while I was gone NO ONE did my job becasue NO ONE knew how!!! Can you believe it? That means some people actually had to wait an extra 3 weeks to get their motors because no one knew how to distribute and post a new material specification so that the plant in Georgia would paint them the right color and with the right type of paint!!! Not to mention the 3 extra weeks before , agency approval listings were updated (we need these during government audits) patents got filed, capital work orders got started on, technical reports were posted, invoices got paid and logged and other things like that. They'd die if I left before I could train someone.
Actually, the other secretary said she could take over my duties while I was gone, but she did NONE of them. So I came back to a mess. The only thing she did was distribute the mail. She called me the my first day home from surgery and wanted me to go over it all on the phone with her again. She eventually gave up. She practically kissed my feet when I came back.
Hey Kathy!
I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time. In my experience, management only looks out for the bottom line, and hardly ever does the "right" thing by it's employees. I don't blame you for wanting to get your box cutter out!
Have you ever thought about selling real estate? With your great personality and smarts, you would do well. To be successful in Real Estate you just need to work hard, know alot of people, and care about other people, and stick with it. The classes and exam are not hard, and can open doors into commercial real estate and other higher paying jobs. Just a thought.
In the meantime, hang in there, and know that those management types will have their day, what goes around seems to come around eventually, if you get my drift.
God Bless you! Terri
Hey Kathy, I also hate my job but the pay is good, LOL. The bad part is I work from 6pm to 6am and have to rotate days. So I work every other weekend and then get scheduled for ot when its my weekend off. The really bad part is I don't know what I would want to be when I grow up, LOL. Hope you have a better week, Tammy P.
