HELP!!!!
Okay everyone I need help now!! My lapband is this coming Wednesday - the 10th of April and I have been gorging this week - have done so well on my pre-op diet until this week. I think it is nerves but my gosh this scares me - am I gonna do the same thing when I have the surgery? What did others do before their surgeries?
Carolyn
Well, I think a lot of us binged before the surgery. My surgery was on a Tuesday and I went and had two of my favorite meals that Friday and Saturday. I couldn't eat much, so I brought the leftovers home and ate on them through the weekend. I think I was just trying to get a few last meals just incase I couldn't ever eat what I loved again. Unfortunetly, I can eat anything with no problem now. I'm sure nerves play a big role in it too, so don't worry. It will be different after your surgery, you won't feel like eating much at all.
Good luck and congratulations on your up coming surgery!

I didn't have lap band, I had RNY. YES, YES, YES...I had last supper syndrome for months!!! That's why I packed on the pounds right before surgery. However, my doctor said that my liver was huge and I had NASH which is basically fatty liver. He almost was unable to do my surgery Lap due to the size of it. He was able to though...thank God. I don't know how it will be for you after lap band but RNY it wasn't that big of a deal. I couldn't eat like I did before surgery. I wish you the best....don't freak....this is the best decision of your life.

Hey Carolyn,
I think you are going through some typical stuff. Lots of us tried to get in all of our old favorites ... the food that comforts us ... before we had surgery. Just don't overdo, and work really hard at following Dr's orders ... so your surgery will have the best chance of being successful and complication-free.
Afterwards, you'll likely have the same struggles we all are going through. While your surgery will change the way your body handles food, your brain will still think the same way. We're all in the process of working to change habits, thought processes, and the way we use food for emotional reasons, instead of physical. New habits, new ways of thinking ... it'll take time. But we'll be here to show you support as you work through it all.
Take good care of yourself between now and the 10th ... wishing you all the best!
Dawn

Thank you Dawn - I went ahead and made another psych consult appointment for the 4th of May also - gonna get this under control and keep it there
- I am so ready for this and the Doctor's office just called to tell me that the time for my surgery has been pushed up - I now have to be at the hospital at 6AM instead of 9:10AM. LOL maybe they knew I was getting antsy.
Thanks for all the support from everyone.
Carolyn
