PROTEIN
What are somethings I can eat right after surgery for protein? Thats the first thing they asked me yesterday and I had to think really hard on things I like that are protein enriched.
I know protein shakes, but what about food wise? I hate to go buy a lot of stuff from Vit shop and not like any of it. (I'm picky)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Tanya,
Like Susann said, everything will most likely taste quite different to you after surgery than it does today. At first, our surgeon only allowed "clear liquid" protein, which has to be specially purchased ... and all tasted vile to me! I never really did find one I could pretend to like. I was able to eat some protein jello, made by Proti. It comes in a few different fruity flavors.
After I was able to eat more variety, I got protein from refried beans and cheese, cottage cheese, and ricotta cheese with a little marinara sauce on top. And soft scrambled eggs ... love those!
Do your best, and know that the hard part is only for a little while!
Dawn

Slim fast makes a low carb high protein drink and I ate alot of soup. Chicken broth and such. Also some yogurts had some protein and I have some shake drinks I made. Go to www.Proteinforme.com and there will be a list. Select the one for WLS, weight loss surgery. They ship it to you! And its not expensive! Enjoy!
Good luck
